i guess most of them would assume that bread slices would absorb lot of oil while deep frying the bread samosa. yes i would partially agree to it if it is not rolled to thin. typically bread slices are soft and porous which helps them to absorb oil or any liquid. however in this recipe the bread slices are rolled and pressed very thin which helps them block the porous behaviour. also the rolling would help to shape the samosa to a cone like shape in turn providing a cavity to stuff the aloo stuffing. further, i have used maida paste to seal the bread samosa, which is basically combination of all purpose flour and water.

how to make bread samosafurthermore, some important tips and recommendations while preparing the bread samosa recipe. firstly, the bread has to be rolled very thin yet there should not be any gaps in the rolled bread. i always recommend to use a high quality bread for this recipe. secondly, while rolling if you damage the bread, you can patch it with few drops of water. lastly, deep fry the samosa in hot oil. basically drop the bread samosa on hot oil and fry them in medium hot vegetable oil.

Ingredients
for stuffing:
  • 2 tsp oil / ghee
  • ½ tsp jeera / cumin seeds
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • ½ cup peas / matar, fresh / frozen
  • ½ tsp coriander seeds, crushed
  • salt to taste
  • ½ tsp fennel seeds / saunf, crushed
  • ½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp aamchur powder / dry mango powder
  • 2 boiled potatoes, peeled and mashed
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
other ingredients:
  • 7 slices bread, white / brown
  • 2 tbsp maida / plain flour / all-purpose flour / refined flour
  • 2 tbsp water
  • oil for deep frying
Instructions ( 1 cup =255 ml)
  1. firstly, prepare the stuffing by heating oil.
  2. add in jeera, ginger and chilli. saute well.
  3. further add in peas and saute for a minute.
  4. also add in spices and salt.
  5. now add in boiled and mashed potatoes and mix well.
  6. add in coriander leaves and mix well. keep aside.
  7. apply maida paste to half of the bread slice.
  8. fold and make a cone by pressing gently.
  9. now stuff in a tbsp of prepared stuffing.
  10. now apply maida paste to the edges.
  11. fold and secure the samosa.
  12. deep fry the samosa in hot oil.
  13. fry on medium flame stirring occasionally till bread samosa turns golden brown.
  14. finally, bread samosa is ready to serve along with tomato sauce.

  1. firstly, prepare the stuffing by heating 2 tsp oil / ghee.

  2. add in ½ tsp jeera, 1 inch ginger, 1 chilli. saute well.

  3. further add in ½ cup peas and saute for a minute. boil the peas if using fresh peas.

  4. also add in ½ tsp crushed coriander seeds, ½ tsp crushed fennel seeds, ½ tsp chilli powder, ¼ tsp garam masala, ½ tsp aamchur powder and salt to taste.

  5. saute on low flame till the spices gets cooked well.

  6. now add in 2 boiled and mashed potatoes. i have pressure cooked potatoes for 2 whistles.

  7. mix well making sure everything is combined well.

  8. now add in 2 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well. keep aside.

  9. take a bread slice and trim the edges. you can use bread sides to prepare bread crumbs.

  10. now with the help of rolling pin, roll the bread thinly without applying much pressure.

  12. also trim the edges in round shape. this helps to get perfect shape for samosa.

  13. prepare the madia paste by mixing 2 tbsp of maida with 2 tbsp water.
