i have already shared the paneer chilli recipe previously, i was getting several request for crispy chilli potato recipe. to be honest, i am not great fan of this recipe, and i always prefer to have paneer chilli. however, i had to share this recipe with the growing number of request to this. basically in this recipe i have clubbed the wedges and chilli sauce recipe. having said that, potatoes can also be deep fried with besan batter to prepare potato fritters and later sautéed with chilli gravy sauce.

furthermore, some important tips and variations for a perfect crispy chilli potato recipe. firstly, the peeled and sliced potatoes has to be boiled with water to remove the excess starch from it. otherwise, the wedges may turn soft and soggy while deep frying. secondly, i have added hot and sweet tomato sauce instead of chilli sauce. the reason i added because i like the sweet and hot taste in my aloo chilli recipe. if you do not like the sweet taste, than go ahead add chilli sauce. lastly, i have added corn starch or corn paste to extend the chilli gravy. this is not a mandatory but helps to coat the gravy to potato wedges.

Ingredients
for frying potatoes:
  • 2 medium sized potatoes
  • 4 cups water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • ½ tsp black pepper, crushed
  • oil for deep frying
other ingredients:
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
  • 1-2 green chili, roughly sliced
  • 2 stem spring onions, chopped
  • ½ medium sized onion, petals
  • ½ small sized capsicum, cubed
  • 2 tbsp hot and sweet sauce (alternatively use 2 tbsp tomato sauce + ½ tsp chili sauce + ½ tsp sugar)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • ¼ cup corn flour paste (mix 2 tsp of corn flour in ¼ cup water)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper, crushed
Instructions ( 1 cup =255 ml)
  1. firstly, peel the skin of potatoes and chop them to thick pieces.
  2. further, boil the potato pieces for 2 minutes adding little salt.
  3. further, mix corn flour and crushed pepper to boiled potatoes.
  4. deep fry the potatoes into hot oil.
  5. heat the oil and add garlic, ginger and green chili, spring onions.
  6. also saute onion and capsicum till they slightly shrink.
  7. additionally add hot and sweet sauce, soy sauce, vinegar and salt to taste.
  8. mix well.
  9. now add corn flour paste.
  10. mix continuously till the sauce turn translucent.
  11. further add fried potatoes and spring onions green.
  12. also add crushed pepper and mix gently making sure the sauces are coated well to potatoes.
  13. finally, serve crispy chilli potato hot along with fried rice.


how to make crispy chilli potato with step by step photo recipe:

  1. firstly, peel the skin of potatoes and chop them to thick pieces.

  3. drain the water and keep potatoes aside. cool completely.

  5. mix well making sure the corn flour gets coated uniformly.

  6. now deep fry the potatoes into hot oil. alternatively, bake at 200 degree celsius for 15-18 minutes or till the potatoes are golden and crisp.

  7. stir occasionally, till the potatoes turn golden brown and crisp.

  8. finally, drain the fried potatoes onto the kitchen towel and keep aside.

  1. firstly, heat the oil and add garlic, ginger and green chili. saute till the raw smell disappears.

  2. further saute spring onions white part. preserving greens, for garnishing.

  3. also saute onion and capsicum till they slightly shrink.

  4. additionally add 2 tbsp hot and sweet sauce (alternatively use 2 tbsp tomato sauce + ½ tsp chili sauce + ½ tsp sugar)

  7. now add corn flour paste. to prepare cornflour paste, mix 2 tsp of corn flour in ¼ cup water.

  • firstly, adding corn flour to potatoes makes potatoes more crispy.
  • additionally, deep fry on medium flame for more crispy and even browning of potatoes.
  • alternatively, bake at 200 degree celsius for 15-18 minutes or till the potatoes are golden and crisp.
  • finally, crispy chili potato taste great when prepared spicy. however, adjust the spiciness according to your choice.
