Ingredients
  • 2 cups sabudana / tapioca pearls
  • 1 potatoe / aloo, boiled
  • ½ cup fried peanuts
  • 1 inch ginger (optional - skip for fasting)
  • 1 chilli, chopped
  • 10 curry leaves (optional - skip for fasting)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds / jeera
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tbsp fresh coconut, grated (optional)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp oil / ghee
  • salt to taste
Instructions ( 1 cup =255 ml)
  1. soak sabudana overnight or for at-least 3 hours according to the quality of your sabudana. some sabudana just requires rinsing in water and keeping for overnight.
  2. next day wash the sabudana till the water runs clear of starch.
  3. make a coarse powder of fried peanuts after removing the skin.
  4. now heat oil, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  5. once they splutter and in curry leaves, green chillies and ginger. fry for half a minute so that smell of ginger goes away.
  6. now add boiled potato, salt and saute for a second.
  7. add the coarsely powdered peanuts and mix well.
  8. finally, add soaked sabudana. keep on stirring the mixture.
  9. fry till turn translucent. it takes 1-2 minute.
  10. garnish with coriander leaves, grated coconut and lemon juice. serve hot with masala chai.

  • firstly, make sure to wash the sabudana well. else it will turn sticky when you fry.
  • in addition, if you are preparing the sabudana recipe for fasting, skip ginger and curry leaves.
