masala sandwich recipe | mumbai masala toast sandwich | aloo masala cheese toast with step by step photo and video recipe. sandwich recipes are not native to indian cuisine and were recently introduced to it. even though it started as a breakfast meal, but has been explored with many other options with street food snacks as one popular choice. these are generally loaded with stuffing and condiments and masala sandwich recipe is one such popular recipe from mumbai streets.

well, most of the sandwich recipes are made with vegetable stuffing in them and there isn’t any special about it. yet there is 2 significant uniqueness about this recipe. firstly the masala stuffing used in this recipe is unique to this recipe. the potato masala is the same masala used in vada pav. this makes it special and gives a unique taste to the sandwich. the other distinct feature is the sev namkeen topping which makes it a complete street food snack meal. the namkeen gives the crispy and crunchy taste with additional flavours to the sandwich. in addition, the green chutney prepared is a unique blend of spices and herbs which contributes all the required spice and flavour for a lip-smacking sandwich recipe.
mumbai masala toast sandwich furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the masala sandwich recipe. firstly, the selection of bread slices is very critical for this recipe. i strongly recommend using white sandwich bread slices or toast bread slices for better results. avoid using multi-grain or brown bread for this recipe. secondly, the aloo masala used for this recipe can also be used for other recipes. the best other option is to use it for vada or also for masala dosa stuffing. lastly, i have used tawa or pan to grill sandwiches which can be an ideal option if you do not have a sandwich grill. but if you do have a grill, you should be using it. also, adding cheese is completely optional and skip it if you prefer to.

notes:

  • firstly, make sure to spread the butter before spreading the chutney. else the bread will turn soggy.
  • also, prepare a thick green chutney adding water as required to prevent it from turning soggy.
  • additionally, if you are adding coconut to chutney then the shelf life of chutney decreases.
  • finally, the mumbai masala toast sandwich recipe tastes great when prepared slightly spicy.
