Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (150 gm) butter, room temperature
  • cup (415 gm) sugar
  • 2 cup (510 ml) milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cup (465 gm) maida / plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  • firstly, in a large mixing bowl take ¾ cup butter and 1½ cup sugar.
  • beat well until the sugar and butter turn creamy and soft.
  • now add 2 cup milk and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
  • mix well making sure everything is well combined.
  • further, place a sieve and add 3 cup maida, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp baking soda and ¼ tsp salt
  • sieve the flour making sure there are no lumps present.
  • mix well until the batter is a smooth consistency.
  • transfer the cake batter into the square cake mould.
  • place the cake tray into the preheated oven. bake the cake at 180 degree celsius or 356 degrees fahrenheit for 40 minutes.
  • finally, enjoy eggless sponge cake with frosting or as it is.
