Ingredients

for green papaya akki rotti:

  • 2 cup rice flour
  • ¼ cup rava / semolina / suji coarse
  • 1 cup green papaya grated
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • ½ carrot grated
  • 2 chilli finely chopped
  • few curry leaves chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • water for kneading
  • oil for roasting

for green papaya chutney:

  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 cup green papaya grated
  • 1 cup coconut grated
  • small piece tamarind
  • 2 tbsp putani / roasted gram dal
  • 3 chilli
  • ½ cup mint
  • ½ cup coriander
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

how to make green papaya akki rotti:

  • firstly, in a large bowl take 2 cup rice flour and ¼ cup rava. adding rava is optional, it helps to make rotti slightly soft.
  • add 1 cup green papaya, 1 onion, ½ carrot, 2 chilli, few curry leaves, 2 tbsp coriander and 1 tsp ginger paste.
  • also add 1 tsp cumin, ½ tsp salt and mix well. squeeze and mix making sure everything is well combined.
  • now slowly add water in batches and start to make a dough.
  • add water as required to form a smooth and soft dough.
  • you can make rotti on a banana leaf, baking paper or on a wet cloth.
  • to make on a wet cloth, place a ball sized dough and tap gently to a thin thickness.
  • now flip over to hot tawa and press gently.
  • after a minute, peel the cloth off.
  • flip over once the base is cooked.
  • now add oil and roast both sides until it turns slightly golden.
  • finally, enjoy papaya rotti with chutney.

how to make green papaya chutney:

  • firstly, in a pan heat 2 tsp oil and roast 1 cup green papaya.
  • roast until the papaya turns slightly golden brown.
  • cool completely, and transfer to the mixi jar.
  • add 1 cup coconut, a small piece of tamarind, 2 tbsp putani and 3 chilli.
  • also add ½ cup mint, ½ cup coriander and ½ tsp salt.
  • adding 1 cup water grind to a smooth paste.
  • transfer the chutney to a large bowl and pour tempering.
  • finally, papita ki chutney is ready to enjoy with roti, dosa or idli.
