Ingredients

  • 2 cup wheat flour / atta
  • 1 tbsp semolina / bombay rava / sooji
  • ¾ tsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp oil
  • milk / water as required to knead
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • firstly in a in a large mixing bowl, take 2 cups of wheat flour, 1 tbsp semolina, ¾ tsp sugar, salt to taste and 1 tsp oil.
  • mix and combine all the ingredients well.
  • further add milk or water and knead a tight dough.
  • divide the dough into half and roll and get to a long shape.
  • cut the dough into small or medium pieces with the help of knife.
  • make small lemon sized balls between your palms and flatten.
  • grease the ball with oil on both sides.
  • roll the dough evenly into circles using rolling pin. roll neither too thin nor thick.
  • further heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai. when the oil is sufficiently hot, drop rolled out poori.
  • press gently with the spoon to puff up.
  • once they puff, it will automatically turn over. if not, once the bottom side is golden brown, turn over the poori.
  • and fry the puri till golden brown all over.
  • also drain the poori into tissue paper to remove excess oil.
  • finally serve poori hot with aloo baaji or veg saagu.
