firstly, in a blender take 1 cup coconut, 1 tbsp putani, 3 dried red chilli.
also add small ball sized tamarind, 1 inch ginger, 1 clove garlic and ¾ tsp salt.
blend to smooth paste adding ½ cup water.
in a small kadai heat 3 tsp oil and splutter ¾ tsp mustard, ½ tsp urad dal, 1 dried red chilli and few curry leaves.
pour the tempering over chutney.
finally, enjoy red coconut chutney with idli or dosa.
