Ingredients

For Batter

  • 3 slices bread
  • ½ cup rava / suji
  • ½ cup curd
  • 1 cup water for grinding
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda

For Vegetable Topping

  • ½ onion finely chopped
  • ½ carrot grated
  • 2 tbsp coriander chopped
  • few curry leaves chopped
  • 2 green chilli finely chopped
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Take white or brown bread and cut into small pieces.
  • Add the bread pieces to a mixer jar.
  • Add rava, curd and water.
  • Grind to a smooth batter.
  • Transfer the batter to a large bowl.
  • Add salt and baking soda. Mix well.
  • Keep the batter aside for a few minutes.
  • In another bowl, add onion, carrot, coriander, curry leaves, chilli and salt.
  • Mix well. Vegetable topping is ready.
  • Heat a tawa and pour one ladleful of batter.
  • Do not spread the batter. Keep it thick like uttapa.
  • Add vegetable topping evenly on top.
  • Drizzle oil around the uttapa.
  • Roast on low flame until the bottom turns golden.
  • Flip and cook the other side. Roast until both sides are cooked well.
  • Finally, bread uttapa is ready to serve hot with coconut chutney, podi or sauce.
