Firstly, dry roast 1 cup sesame on low flame till it turns aromatic.
Roast till the sesame turns golden brown, and keep aside.
Add 2 tsp oil, ½ cup urad dal and ½ cup chana dal.
Roast on low flame till the dal turns golden brown.
Also add 2 tbsp coriander seeds, 1 tbsp cumin and ½ cup dry coconut.
Keep frying till the spices turn aromatic and golden brown. Keep aside.
In a pan take 1 tsp oil, 50 grams dried red chilli, few curry leaves.
Roast till the chilli puffs up and turns crisp.
Transfer to the same plate and cool completely.
Once everything is cooled, transfer into the mixer jar, add a small piece tamarind, ½ tsp turmeric, 2 tsp jaggery, ½ tsp hing and 1 tbsp salt.
Pulse and grind to a coarse powder.
