Ingredients

  • cup maida / plain flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk powder
  • pinch salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup ghee

Instructions

  • Firstly, in a large bowl, place a sieve and add 1½ cup maida, 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tbsp milk powder, pinch salt, and ¼ tsp baking powder.
  • Sieve and mix well making sure all the dry ingredients are well combined.
  • Now add ½ cup ghee, crumble and mix well. Gently mix the flour and ghee mixture.
  • Lightly crumble with fingers and get the mixture into dough.
  • Do not knead the dough, just press and make a soft dough. If you feel the dough is dry, add some ghee or butter. but do not add milk or water as it makes cookies dense.
  • Now make ball-sized cookies and place them over a greased plate.
  • Now bake the cookies in a kadai, by adding salt at the bottom of the kadai.
  • Cook on a medium flame for 15 minutes or until the bottom of the cookies gets golden brown.
  • You can alternatively bake in the oven at 170 degrees celsius for 15 minutes. Cool the cookies completely before taking out the plate.
  • Finally, enjoy the crunchy Ghee Cookies recipe with a cup of coffee.
