firstly, in a pressure cooker take ¼ cup toor dal, ¼ cup chana dal ¼ cup moong dal. make sure to soak the dal atleast for 20 minutes.
also add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp salt and 1 tsp oil.
add 2¼ cup water and pressure cook for 5 whistles.
cook until the dal is cooked well. keep aside.
in a large kadai, heat 2 tbsp butter. add 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp kasuri methi, 1 chilli, slit, 1 inch ginger and 3 clove garlic.
saute until the spices turn aromatic.
now add ½ onion and saute slightly.
further, add ½ tsp turmeric and 1 tsp chilli powder. saute on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.
add 1 tomato and saute until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
pour in cooked dal and ½ tsp salt.
mix well combining everything.
furthermore, add 1 cup water or as required adjusting the consistency.
simmer for 3 minutes or until the flavours are absorbed well.
now add 2 tbsp coriander and ¼ tsp garam masala. mix well.
finally, enjoy butter dal fry with jeera rice.
