Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp kalonji
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 inch ginger grated
  • 5 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 chilli chopped
  • 2 onion sliced
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cream / malai
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tsp mango powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp kasuri methi crushed
  • 2 tbsp coriander chopped

Instructions

  • Firstly, in a pan heat 2 tbsp oil. Add 1 tsp cumin, ½ tsp kalonji, 1 inch cinnamon, 1 bay leaf, 1 inch ginger, 5 cloves garlic and 2 chilli.
  • Splutter the tempering on medium flame.
  • Add 2 onions and saute for 3 minutes until the onion softens slightly.
  • Keeping the flame on low add ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp cumin powder and ½ tsp salt.
  • Saute on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.
  • Add in ½ cup cream and cook till the oil separates.
  • Further, add 1 cup water and mix well adjusting the consistency.
  • Boil for 3 minutes or until the curry turns creamy.
  • Now add ½ tsp mango powder, ½ tsp garam masala, 2 tbsp kasuri methi and 2 tbsp coriander. Mix well.
  • Finally, enjoy Malai Pyaz Recipe with roti.
