lauki thepla recipelauki thepla recipe | dudhi na thepla | bottle bourd paratha with step by step photo and video recipe. thepla or spiced indian flatbread recipes are very common across gujarat and also various part of indian states. the recipe is known for its simplicity and for the fact that it has all the required spices and flavour in it and hence can be consumed without any sides. one such easy and simple thepla variation is lauki thepla recipe made with bottle gourd grate.

as i was explaining earlier, thepla recipes are typically made and served as travel meal. the dough for thepla is pre-mixed with spices and herbs which makes it a complete and satisfying meal. in this case, i have added grate of bottle gourd with spices like red chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin. hence when you are travelling it does offer you a combination of both plain roti with a curry. i personally like this thepla for my husband’s lunch box. no mess, and you can consume with either a pickle or with plain yogurt. especially when you run out of options to have something healthy, yet quickly, thepla has been always a solution.

furthermore, i would like to highlight some tips, suggestions and variations to lauki thepla recipe. firstly, you need to be extremely careful while adding water to the dudhi na thepla dough. this is due to the fact that lauki grate already has a sufficient amount of moisture in it. hence add water in small batches till the dough becomes soft. secondly, i would heavily recommend you to have a thin layered thepla rather than a thick one. this mainly due to the fact that dough is pre-mixed and you may find it difficult to fry it if the thepla is thick. lastly, the thepla can be shaped to any particular design and not bound to one particular shape.

finally, i request you to check my other roti recipes collection with this post of lauki thepla recipe. it includes my other related recipes collection like garlic naan, luchi, rumali roti, akki roti, ragi rotti, bajra roti, chole bhature, jolada rotti, tandoori roti on tawa, sabudana thalipeeth. further to these i would also like to mention my other similar recipes categories like,
