noodle momos recipe | veg noodles momos recipe | veg momos recipe with detailed photo and video recipe. basically a steamed bun or dumpling recipe with veg noodles stuffing / maggi stuffing. it can be served as a snack with masala chai or as starters before main course.
typically, the outer cover of momos are prepared by all purpose flour which is then stuffed with veggies or meat stuffing. these days even wheat momos are popular but traditionally it was always prepared with maida flour. maida has more gluten compared to wheat and it makes easy to give the desired shape and structure to momos. in short the maida dough is rolled to small circular thin sheets and the maggi noodles stuffing is placed in center. later, the circular thin sheets are pleated to round pocket which is then cooked by steaming.
besides maggi noodles stuffing, it can also be prepared with several other stuffing. the most famous momos vegetarian recipe is veggie momos recipe prepared with only vegetables. but the momos can also be prepared with boiled mashed potatoes to make aloo momos. the other most famous momos recipe in vegetarian section is paneer momos which is a combination of finely chopped vegetables and grated paneer. lastly, sweet momos can also be prepared with milk solids or koya.

Ingredients
for momos:
- 1 cup maida / all-purpose flour / plain flour
- salt to taste
- 2 tsp oil
- water as required to knead dough
- 1 tbsp maida / all-purpose flour / plain flour for dusting
- cabbage leaf for placing in tray
for stuffing:
- 2 tsp oil
- 2 cloves garlic, lasun, finely chopped
- ½ medium sized onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup carrot, finely chopped
- ¼ cup cabbage, shreadded
- 1½ cup water
- 1 packet maggi masala
- 1 packet maggi noodles
- ½ tbsp soy sauce / soya sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp chilli sauce
Instructions
momos dough recipe:
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl, take 1 cup of maida, salt and oil. mix well.
- further add water little by little and knead dough.
- cover and rest for 1 hour.
maggi momos stuffing recipe:
- firstly, in a large kadai heat oil. saute garlic and vegetables.
- furthermore, add water and get to a boil.
- now add maggi masala and noodles.
- mix well and cook till the water is absorbed completely.
- now add vinegar, soy sauce and chilli sauce.
momos preparation recipe:
- after an hour pinch a small ball and flatten.
- also dust with some maida and start to roll using rolling pin.
- now place the prepared stuffing in center.
- fold into half forming a semi circle.
- press the edges gently.
- further, bring together the tip of folded semi circles and and join them.
- furthermore, steam momos for 12 minutes.
- finally, serve momos hot with momos sauce.
how to make veg noodles momos or veg momos with step by step photo recipe:
momos dough recipe:
- initially, in a large mixing bowl, take 1 cup of maida / all-purpose flour, salt and oil.
- further, mix well with your hand, so that everything is combined well.
- also add water little by little and knead the dough.
- knead dough till they are soft and non sticky.
- finally, cover the dough with moist cloth and keep aside for at least 1 hour.
maggi momos stuffing recipe:
- firstly, in a large kadai heat oil.
- further saute garlic on medium flame.
- also saute onions till they change in colour.
- then add vegetables like cabbage and carrot or of your choice. saute well.
- furthermore, add 1.5 cups of water and get to a boil.
- now add maggi masala present in maggi packet. mix well making sure masala doesn’t form any lumps.
- further, break the maggi into small pieces. else it will be difficult to stuff into momos.
- mix well and cook till the water is absorbed completely. also mash the noodles in between to make it slightly sticky.
- now add vinegar, soy sauce and chilli sauce.
- give a good mix and make sure they are slightly sticky.
momos preparation recipe:
- after an hour, take the prepared momos dough and knead well again for a minute.
- further pinch a small ball and flatten.
- also dust with some maida / all-purpose flour and start to roll using rolling pin.
- roll to almost medium thin circle. around 4 – 5 inch in diameter. make sure you roll from sides and keep the center slightly thick.
- now place a heaped tbsp of prepared stuffing in center.
- fold into half forming a semi circle.
- press the edges gently making sure they are sealed properly.
- further, bring together the tip of folded semi circles and and join them.
- press gently with the help of just 2 fingers. one inside and the other outside.
- heat a steamer and place a tray lined with cabbage leaf. this prevents momos from sticking to tray.
- now arrange the momos in the tray without touching each other.
- furthermore, steam momos for 10-12 minutes or till shiny sheen appears over it.
- finally, serve momos hot with momos sauce.
notes:
- firstly, do not roll too thin nor too thick. keep it medium thickness from center and thin from edges.
- in addition, place a tray lined with cabbage leaf. this prevents momos from sticking to tray.
- furthermore, prepare the stuffing of your choice.
- finally, serve veg noodles momos with spicy momos chutney.
