beetroot halwa recipe | chukandar ka halwa | beetroot ka halwa with detailed photo and video recipe. interesting and healthy indian sweets or dessert recipe made with grated beetroot, khova and sugar. beetroot contains ample amount of sugar in it and hence this sweet requires less amount of sugar and eventually making a healthy option. it is generally made for celebration feast or during the festival, but can be made any occasions.
well, to be honest, i am not a huge fan of beetroot recipes and i usually avoid purchasing it from the supermarket. but my hubby does not have any issue with it, even though not a huge fan of it. hence once in a while, i but these fresh beetroot’s and i store it in my refrigerator to make sambar or pachadi. so basically i had some leftover beetroot’s and i wanted to use it to for some recipe and post it in my blog. meanwhile, i was getting several requests to make a healthy and tasty indian dessert. particularly with less or no sugar. my first choice was to make dates based sweets, but i had to fall back to beetroot halwa so that i can attend these leftover beetroot’s. i was pleasantly surprised by the result as it was crunchy and caramelised similar to my previous posts of lauki ka halwa and kashi halwa.
furthermore, i would like to highlight some tips, suggestions and variations to this beetroot halwa recipe. firstly, i would recommend using medium size grater to grate the beetroot slices. avoid using fine or thin grater as the beetroots would eventually dissolve when cooking. secondly, adding sugar is optional and you can make the halwa without adding it. beetroots contain the required amount of sugar in it but adding sugar helps to caramelise it. lastly, as an extension to the recipe, i have added mawa or khoya to the recipe to make it more creamy and rich. you can add it once the grated beetroot are almost cooked.
finally, i would like to highlight my other related indian sweets recipes collection with this post of beetroot halwa recipe. it includes recipes like carrot halwa, lauki ka halwa, kashi halwa, sooji ka halwa, aate ka halwa, ice halwa, besan ka halwa, hayagreeva maddi and bombay karachi halwa. in addition to those do visit my other related recipes collection like,
