cooker cake recipe | pressure cooker cake | eggless chocolate cake without oven with detailed photo and video recipe. traditionally cake recipes are prepared in conventional baking oven with a controlled dry heat. but buying a oven can be a huge investment and and more importantly indian cooking generally does not involve baking process. hence this recipe is for those who crave for basic cake and would like to explore their options with pressure cooker.
in this recipe post i have prepared a basic chocolate cake recipe in pressure cooker but most of cake recipes can be prepared. you can even prepare cakes like vanilla sponge cake, fruit cake and even plum cake. but there is a slight difference with the outcome of cakes prepared in cooker. cake recipes can be slightly moist and perhaps lighter compared to traditional baked cake recipes. in addition the same recipe can also be prepared in electric rice cooker too. basically it would follow the same steps and procedure. but the challenging job for cooker cake recipe is the container which would fit in these cooker space. you should be able to find a small baking tray which would easily fit in most of the cooker used on day to day basis.
while it is easy to prepare cooker cake recipe, but still some precautionary steps has to be taken while preparing pressure cooker cake. firstly, never use water while preparing or baking cake in cooker. it has to be dry heat without any moisture and hence use salt or sand as a base to cooker. secondly, as shown in this recipe i have used old unused cooker and even i recommend the same. also do not use the cooker gasket and cooker whistle while baking the cake inside it. lastly, maintain a 1 cm gap between the cooker and baking tray while placing inside the cooker. and maintain the temperature in cooker by heating in a low to medium flame.

Ingredients
- 1 cup 397 gm milkmaid / condensed milk
- ¼ cup oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract / vanilla essence
- ¼ cup milk, warm
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 cup 180gm maida / plain flour / refined flour
- 2 tbsp 15gm cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
for baking in cooker:
- 1½ cup salt or sand
Instructions
- firstly, in a pressure cooker add in 1½ cup of salt and place a cooker rack or any cup.
- close the lid of cooker without keeping the gasket and whistle.
- heat for 5 to 10 minutes. as a result, gives a preheat oven atmosphere.
- meanwhile beat 1 cup milkmaid, ¼ cup oil, ¼ cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp vinegar in a large mixing bowl.
- now in a sieve take 1 cup maida, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, ¼ tsp baking soda, ½ tsp baking powder and pinch of salt. sieve everything well.
- combine well with cut and fold method adding warm milk if required.
- do not to over mix the cake batter as it turns chewy.
- further, transfer the cake batter into the cake mould (width: 15 cm, height: 6 cm, length: 17 cm).
- then carefully place the cake tray into the cooker.
- close the lid of cooker without gasket and whistle. simmer for 40 minutes.
- finally, serve the eggless chocolate cake in pressure cooker or store in airtight container.
how to make cooker cake recipe with step by step photos:
- firstly, in a pressure cooker add in 1½ cup of salt and place a cooker rack or any cup.

- meanwhile prepare cake batter by taking 1 cup milkmaid, ¼ cup oil, ¼ cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp vinegar in a large mixing bowl.
- with the help of electric beater or hand whisk, beat for 1 minute or till the mixture combines well.
- now in a sieve take 1 cup maida, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, ¼ tsp baking soda, ½ tsp baking powder and pinch of salt. sieve everything well.
- combine well with cut and fold method adding warm milk if required.
- do not to over mix the cake batter as it turns chewy.
- further, transfer the cake batter into the cake mould (width: 15 cm, height: 6 cm, length: 17 cm). make sure to grease the mould with butter to avoid sticking and line butter paper at bottom of tray.
- pat the tray twice to remove the air incorporated into the batter.
- then carefully place the cake tray into the cooker, leaving gap around the edges. to bake cake in oven, check out eggless chocolate cake recipe in oven.
- close the lid of cooker without gasket and whistle. simmer for 40 minutes.
- furthermore, insert a toothpick at the centre and check. if it comes out clean then the cake is done. else cover and bake for another 5 minutes.
- remove the cake from the cooker carefully and allow the cake to cool completely. later cut to slices and serve.
- finally, serve the eggless chocolate cake in pressure cooker or store in airtight container.
notes:
- firstly, make the cake batter slightly thick when baking in cooker compared to oven.
- also, add dry fruits of your choice to make it more rich and tasty.
- furthermore, if you do not want to use vinegar, then replace warm milk with buttermilk / curd.
- additionally, replace maida with wheat flour and oil with butter for more healthy cooker cake recipe.
- finally, cooker cake bakes completely and turns moist and spongy when prepared on low flame.
