daliya recipe | vegetable dalia khichdi recipe | broken wheat recipe with detailed photo and video recipe. basically a cereal food prepared from the hulled or crushed grain of various different wheat varieties in which most common one is durum wheat. it is mainly served to kids or often termed as kids recipe which can also be served to adults as weight loss recipe.
in this post of veg daliya recipe, i have not used any onions and garlic. hence this recipe can also be used for vrats or during fasting season for festivals. however i typically prepare it with onions and ginger garlic and it tastes great with it. lately i have adopted such simple and healthy recipes in our diet just because to reduce the weight. vegetable daliya khichdi recipe is one such recipe which you can prepare it with several variations, yet you would not get bored with it. i typically prepare broken wheat recipe for dinner and for the next morning breakfast and it tastes great for the next day.
while veg daliya recipe, does not have much complicated steps, yet some tips and recommendations to make it even more perfect. firstly, roast dalia with ghee on low flame till it turns aromatic. also you can add vegetables of your choice to make it more healthy. lastly, if serving dalia for toddlers then just pressure cook dalia and moong dal without adding any vegetables.

Ingredients
- 1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
- ½ cup dalia / broken wheat
- 1 tsp oil
- 1 tsp jeera / cumin seeds
- pinch of hing / asafoetida
- ½ tsp ginger paste
- 2 green chilli, slit
- 1 to mato, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp peas / matar
- ½ carrot, chopped
- ½ tsp turmeric / haldi
- salt to taste
- ½ cup moong dal, soaked
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- firstly, in a pan heat 1 tsp ghee .
- add in ½ cup dalia / broken wheat and roast on low flame.
- roast for 2-3 minutes or till dalia turns aromatic. keep aside.
- further in a cooker heat 1 tsp oil, 1 tsp jeera and pinch of hing.
- saute till the jeera splutters.
- additionally, add in ½ tsp ginger paste and 2 green chilli. saute for a minute.
- furthermore add in 1 tomato and saute till it turns soft and mushy.
- also add 2 tbsp peas, ½ carrot, ½ tsp turmeric and salt to taste.
- saute for a minute or two.
- add in ½ cup moong dal, soaked for 20 minutes.
- saute for a minute.
- now add
- cups water and give a good stir.
- cover and pressure cook for 3 whistles or till dalia gets cooked completely.
- finally, serve mixed vegetable dalia with curd or some pickle.

notes:
- firstly, saute dalia in low flame till it turns aromatic. this make dalia more flavourful.
- also, add vegetables of your choice to make dalia more nutritious.
- additionally, add onions and ginger for more flavours.
- finally, adjust the consistency of mixed vegetable dalia by adding water as required.
