Onion Tomato Chutney Recipe | Tomato Onion Chutney Recipe with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Chutney recipes can be prepared with almost any vegetables which we use daily. Hence, you can find variants of tomato chutneyonion chutneyginger chutney and even capsicum chutney. But this recipe combines 2 vegetables, i.e. onion and tomato, which brings out a tangy, sharp, pungent taste of chutney.

There are several ways to prepare this spicy and tangy dark red-coloured onion tomato chutney recipe. One such variation is to prepare with just onion and tomato spiced with red chillies and finally tempered with mustard and urad Dal Tadka. However, I have added coconut to this recipe, which neutralises the strong flavour of tomato and onion and adds a creamy texture. In addition, you can vary the proportion of tomato and onion as per preference.

Tomato Onion Chutney Recipe

Here are some essential tips and recommendations for the perfect onion tomato chutney recipe. Firstly, I recommend ripe tomatoes for a tangy and juicy chutney. Also, red onion is preferred in place of white or brown onions. Secondly, I prepared this condiment without adding coconut to it. But you can add dedicated coconut and grind it to a smooth paste while frying. Adding coconut gives a nice texture and consistency but may reduce the sharpness of the chutney. Finally, you can skip the tamarind if you think your tomatoes are tangy and sour. Also, you can store it in the fridge for at least 4-5 days without spoiling it.
