Solkadhi Recipe | Solkadi – Kokum Curry | Kokum Kadhi Recipe with step-by-step photos and video recipe. A popular curry or beverage from the Konkan and Goa cuisine, it is typically prepared from kokum water and coconut milk, but the seasoning may vary from region to region. My husband taught me this fantastic and straightforward kokum curry or Solkadhi recipe. He started to like this recipe during his stay in Pune. He said his first encounter with Kookum Kadi was in Ganpati Pule, Maharashtra. Initially, he thought it would be the same as kokum rasam, what we get in South India. Indeed, both are amazing recipes but different from each other. I like this recipe because of its simplicity and ease of preparation, yet it delivers a fantastic taste. Moreover, the typical use case of this recipe is to lower the body heat and serve as a beverage. But I completely disagree with that and serve this multipurpose curry. I served it with rice and roti, which had endless options.
Furthermore, I would like to share a few health benefits of kokum curry with this Solkadhi Recipe post. Kokum is mainly used to solve digestion and constipation problems. Combining kokum chemicals helps reduce inflammation in the gut and stimulate proper nutrient uptake and digestion of food. Secondly, kokum is high in fibre and has absolutely no cholesterol. Hence, it is perfect for your heart. So be sure to introduce this curry in each aspect of our meal, including lunch and dinner. Lastly, it helps to reduce weight, improves skin health and increases immunity. It is even better to drink the kokum juice directly without adding another ingredient, which may reduce the impact of kokum.

About SolKadhi
It is a simple, healthy, creamy beverage curry recipe made with kokum, coconut milk, and various herbs and spices. Solkadhi or Kokum Curry is usually served as a cooling and refreshing beverage, but it can also be served as a simple accompaniment or condiment with various main-course meals. When served as a beverage, it is mainly served after a huge spicy meat-based meal. It helps with digestion, improves gut health, and lowers body heat. But when served with rice, it can be treated like any other rasam and mixed with rice generously.
There are many ways to make this simple and healthy Solkadhi Curry Recipe. The essential combination of kokum and coconut milk remains the same, but the quantity of each ingredient brings different variations. Increasing the coconut milk quantity makes it more creamy and thick, whereas increasing kokum juice makes it thin and pink in colour. Also, you may add different ingredients like onions or tomatoes. In addition, you can also prepare it with heat.
