being a vegetarian i always look for various dishes to be served with steamed rice. tambli recipe is one such recipe which i prepare quite often. i prepare various tambli especially for our lunch. my husband particularly, likes kottambari soppu tambuli with some homemade ghee tempering. ghee tempering adds loads of flavour and aroma to this tambli recipe.

Ingredients
  • fistful of coriander leaves
  • 2 green chilli
  • 2 tbsp curd / yogurt, fresh
  • ¼ cup coconut milk
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
  • ¾ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp jeera / cumin seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • pinch of hing
Instructions ( 1 cup =255 ml)
  1. firstly, take coriander leaves and green chilli.
  2. furthermore, blend to smooth paste adding required water.
  3. also add thick curd.
  4. additionally, add some coconut milk and give a good mix.
  5. furthermore, add salt to taste and mix well.
  6. prepare the tempering. in a small kadai, take ghee, mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves and hing. allow to splutter.
  7. finally, pour the tempering over the tambli and serve with hot steamed rice.

notes:

  • firstly, instead of coconut milk, replace with a tbsp of freshly grated coconut while blending with coriander and green chilli.
  • furthermore, using coconut milk enhances the flavour of tambuli.
  • most noteworthy, the consistency of tambli must be slightly thin.
  • finally, add tempering to make it more rich and flavourful.
