achari paneer tikka recipe | easy achari paneer tikka on tawa with detailed photo and video recipe. basically, a indian pickle flavoured paneer cubes tikka recipe which is a ideal starter of appetiser recipe. in other words, it is another variation to the popular paneer tikka recipe. it is a popular north indian or punjabi cuisine paneer recipes which is now appreciated not just in india but all over the world.
i have not shared the paneer tikka recipe yet but i have shared the paneer tikka masala recipe but i am planning to share it soon. the main reason for sharing the achari paneer tikka prior to plain paneer tikka is i love the achari flavoured tikka recipes. i wanted to share this recipe since long time and it was due since last year. fortunately, i was having some left over paneer cubes in my fridge and my husband recommended to prepare some starters recipe. achari paneer tikka was the first option that came to my mind and i am so happy that i am sharing this amazing paneer recipe.
while the recipe preparation for achari paneer tikka is extremely simple, but few tips and suggestions for a perfect recipe. firstly, i have used homemade fresh paneer which is typically fresh and soft and it is ideal for tikka recipe. if you are planning to use store bought paneer, try to use fresh and soft paneer for this recipe. secondly, i have used spice powders which defines the achari masala. to skip these hassles, you can directly use any store bought indian pickle masala or even mango achar masala. lastly, i have used tawa to grill the paneer, but it can also be grilled in oven or convection oven.

achari paneer tikka recipe | easy achari paneer tikka on tawa
Ingredients
- 1 cup thick curd / yogurt, fresh
- 1 tsp mustard powder / rai powder
- 1.5 tsp kashmiri red chili powder / lal mirch powder
- ½ tsp turmeric / haldi
- 1 tsp fennel powder / saunf powder
- ¼ tsp cumin powder / jeera powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp ginger - garlic paste
- ¼ tsp methi powder / fenugreek powder
- ¼ tsp ajwain / carom seeds
- 2 tbsp mustard oil / any cooking oil
- ½ tsp kasuri methi / dry fenugreek leaves, crushed
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- salt to taste
- 1 capsicum, cubed
- ½ medium sized onion, petals
- 9 cubes paneer / cottage cheese
- 3 tsp oil, for roasting
Instructions
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl take curd.
- further add mustard powder, chili powder, turmeric, fennel powder, cumin powder, garam masala, methi powder, ajwain and kasuri methi leaves.
- also add ginger garlic paste.
- additionally add 2 tbsp mustard oil or any cooking oil.
- now add lemon juice.
- furthermore add salt to taste.
- whisk smooth making sure the spices are mixed well with the curd.
- now add capsicum, onions and paneer / cottage cheese.
- mix gently without breaking paneer.
- further, cover and refrigerate to marinate for 1 hour or more.
- place the marinated paneer, capsicum and onions over tawa and pan fry.
- roast the tikkas on medium flame on both side with oil as required.
- now insert the marinated paneer, capsicum and onions into wooden skewers.
- also garnish with leftover tikka sauce.
- finally, serve achari paneer tikka with green chuntey and few salads.
how to make achari paneer tikka with step by step photos:
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl take thick fresh curd or use hung curd.
- further add 1 tsp mustard powder, 1.5 tsp chili powder, ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp fennel powder, ¼ tsp cumin powder, ½ tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp methi powder, ¼ tsp ajwain and ½ tsp kasuri methi leaves.
- also add ginger garlic paste.
- additionally add 2 tbsp mustard oil or any cooking oil.
- now add lemon juice.
- furthermore add salt to taste.
- whisk smooth making sure the spices are mixed well with the curd.
- now add capsicum, onions and paneer / cottage cheese.
- mix gently without breaking paneer.
- further, cover and refrigerate to marinate for 1 hour or more.
- place the marinated paneer, capsicum and onions over tawa and pan fry. alternatively, roast in oven or in tandoor.
- roast the tikkas on medium flame on both side with oil as required.
- now insert the marinated paneer, capsicum and onions into wooden skewers.
- also garnish with leftover tikka sauce.
- finally, serve achari paneer tikka with green chuntey and few salads.
notes:
- firstly, use mustard oil for more achari flavour.
- additionally, add cherry tomatoes to make tikka more tasty.
- also use fresh homemade paneer / cottage cheese for more rich taste.
- finally, add a tsp of mango pickle to make achari paneer tikka more flavourful.
paneer coating used got dissolved in pan. did not stick to paneer.
It works without Hung curd or Bengal gram flour ? Plus is difficult to get the charred effect on Tikkas 🙁
