bread pakora recipe | aloo stuffed bread pakora | bread bajji recipe with detailed photo and video recipe. a common indian street food or deep fried snack/fritter prepared mainly with stuffed aloo. the recipe is common snack especially in wet and winter season and a popular selling snack in the hilly area tourist destination. these deep-fried snacks are stuffed with spiced potatoes served with green chutney or coconut chutney.
there are several bread related snacks, especially in the indian street food cuisine palette. but out all these snacks, simple aloo stuffed bread pakora recipe is the queen of all bread related snacks recipes. having said that there are several variations to this street food snack. the most common recipe is to prepare it in a triangular shape with aloo or potato stuffing. but it is also prepared without any stuffing with a simple spiced gram flour coating. i personally like the stuffed one compared to the later and i have shared the same recipe too. moreover, the other popular variation is to prepare it very similar to onion pakora. basically, the bread slices are crumbled in a besan mixture and later deep fried in small dumpling shapes.
furthermore some important tips, variations and recommendations for bread pakora recipe. firstly, i would recommend using normal white sandwich bread slices for this recipe. wholemeal or multi-grain bread slices would also work but white bread is more preferred. secondly, the stuffing can be easily extended with the mixture of other vegetables apart from just potatoes. you can add veggies like carrots, cauliflower, peas and even beans and mix them together as veggie stuffing. lastly, deep fry these triangularly shaped bread’s immediately after soaking in besan batter. also avoid soaking it on repeated intervals otherwise it may turn soggy.

Ingredients
for stuffing:
- 3 potato / aloo, boiled & mashed
- 1 green chilli, finely chopped
- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- ¼ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
- ½ tsp aamchur / dry mango powder
- 2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
- ½ tsp chaat masala
- ¼ tsp salt
for besan batter:
- 1 cup besan / gram flour
- 2 tbsp rice flour
- ¼ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
- ½ tsp salt
- pinch of soda
- ½ cup water or as required
other ingredients:
- 4 slices bread, white / brown
- 4 tsp green chutney
- oil for deep frying
Instructions
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl take 3 boiled potato.
- also add 1 green chilli, 1-inch ginger, 2 tbsp coriander,¼ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp aamchur and ½ tsp chaat masala.
- combine all the ingredients well and aloo stuffing is ready.
- further, spread 1 tsp of green chutney over bread slice and cut half.
- spread a tbsp of prepared aloo stuffing over half slice of bread.
- cover with another half slice and dip into besan batter covering both sides.
- deep fry immediately into hot oil.
- splash oil over bread pakora and fry on medium flame flipping occasionally.
- fry till the pakora turns golden and crisp.
- finally, serve bread pakora with green chutney or tomato sauce.
how to make bread pakora with step by step photo:
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl take 3 boiled potato.
- also add 1 green chilli, 1-inch ginger, 2 tbsp coriander,¼ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp aamchur, ½ tsp chaat masala and ¼ tsp salt.
- combine all the ingredients well and aloo stuffing is ready.
- further, spread 1 tsp of green chutney over bread slice and cut half.
- spread a tbsp of prepared aloo stuffing over half slice of bread.
- cover with another half slice of bread and keep aside.
- now prepare besan batter by taking 1 cup besan, 2 tbsp rice flour, ¼ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp salt and a pinch of soda in a large bowl.
- pour ½ cup water and prepare the batter.
- prepare smooth flowing consistency batter without any lumps.
- furthermore, dip the prepared stuffed bread into besan batter covering both sides.
- deep fry immediately into hot oil.
- splash oil over bread pakora and fry on medium flame flipping occasionally.
- fry till the pakora turns golden and crisp.
- finally, serve bread pakora with green chutney or tomato sauce.
notes:
- firstly, spreading green chutney is optional, however, enhances the flavour.
- also, fry in hot oil, else batter will separate from bread.
- additionally, stuffing into bread pakoda is optional, it can be prepared without stuffing too.
- finally, bread pakora tastes great when served hot along with cutting chai.
