i am a huge fan of leftover recipes. i guess you may have already noticed it, as i have posted several leftover recipes with video. as a matter of fact, my previous leftover recipe post was roti sandwich similar to tacos. while i was preparing it, i got this idea of making a dessert with leftover rotis. initially, i thought of making it similar to besan ladoo, but my husband gave me this idea to have a rough texture. hence i improvised the recipe to dry roast the roti’s and roughy ground it. basically, i was aiming a similar texture to gond ladoo with a crisp texture. moreover, i have also added lots of dry fruits to the laddo mixture which adds more crunchiness to the laddo. having said that i have not added gond to it, but you may very well add to it.
furthermore, i would like to highlight some more tips, suggestions and variations to roti ke laddu recipe. firstly, in this recipe, i have use leftover roti or chapathi to prepare the ladoo. you may use the same recipe to prepare tandoori roti ladoo as well. but ensure that it is made out of wheat flour and not from maida. secondly, if you like to have smooth texture or as a variation to the crunchy texture, you may ground the roti to smooth powder. in that case, you do not need to roast them and directly powder them to smooth powder. lastly, to get a more creamy taste, i have added powdered mawa or khoya made with milk powder. alternatively, you may skip it completely if you do not have it.
finally i request you to check my other indian sweet recipes collection with this post of roti ke laddu recipe. it mainly includes my other detailed recipes like pranhara, karachi halwa, carrot halwa, walnut halwa, urad dal ladoo, dates halwa, mango peda, dry fruit chikki, gulgula, besan ladoo. further to these i would also like to highlight my other related recipes categories like,
