dadpe pohe recipe | dadpe poha | maharashtrian dadpe pohe recipe with detailed photo and video recipe. an unique and tasty poha or flattened rice based recipe made for morning breakfast or as a snack. unlike in the traditional poha recipes where thick poha is used, however in the marathi dadpe pohe recipe, thin poha is used to cook it. it is generally made for morning breakfast and can be served with other breakfast recipes like upma or even with bombay mixture.
as i was explaining earlier, dadpe pohe recipe is a popular recipe from the marathi cuisine. but has a strong similarities to the avalakki upkari recipe from karnataka cuisine. basically both recipes are made with thin or nylon poha but has different spices or herbs added to it. as a matter of fact, the khara avalakki contains more spices compared to the dadpe poha. it does not contain additional spices like rasam powder or sambar powder which is added on top of herbs and coconut. moreover in this recipe i have added sugar which when combined with fresh herbs, salt and spices makes it a tasty combination. i personally like it when served with the combination of upma. as a matter of fact, i developed this taste from the upma and avalakki combination and it does go well with this recipe too.
furthermore, before i wrap up the recipe, i would like to add some tips, suggestions and variations to dadpe pohe recipe. firstly, the traditional recipe uses the combination of onions and coconut which makes it a tasty recipe. yet if you do not like onions you can avoid it, especially if you want to make no onion no garlic recipe. secondly, the traditional recipe is made with thin or nylon poha which makes it perfect. yet you can also make this recipe with medium poha but certainly not with thick poha. lastly, the recipe has to be served after 30 minutes once it is prepared. else, it will be dry and will not taste good. hence you may have to plan it accordingly and prepare well in advance.
