Jowar Pancake Recipe | Jowar Bun Dosa – Healthy Dosa with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Pancake recipes are not native to Indian cuisine. Yet it has taken Indian cuisine by storm, and we have a wide range of variations to it. One of them is the jowar pancake, also known as jowar bun dosa, which is known for its health benefits.
Like all other pancake recipes, Jowar pancake, also known as jowar bun dosa, is a soft and fluffy millet-based breakfast. I prepare it using jowar flour, curd, and a mix of finely chopped vegetables like carrots, capsicum, and onions. In addition, it needs no fermentation and comes together quickly with minimal effort. The batter stays thick, making the pancake soft and filling. Jowar is rich in fibre, iron, and protein, which makes this dish a healthy choice. Moreover, it keeps you full for longer and helps maintain energy through the day. I often serve it with coconut chutney or curd for added taste. This wholesome pancake is ideal for busy mornings and a comfort meal for all ages. Hence, I make it almost every week, and I’m sure your family will enjoy it too.
Furthermore, some additional tips, suggestions and variations to the Jowar Pancake Recipe. Use jowar flour as the base to make either regular dosa or thick pancakes. Keep the batter slightly thick for a soft and bun-like texture. For a dosa-style version, spread the batter a little thinner on the tawa. Add finely chopped vegetables like onions, carrots, beans, or spinach to boost nutrition. Mix the batter just before making it to avoid sogginess. Serve it hot with coconut, mint, or peanut chutney based on your preference. Top it with a small dollop of butter if serving kids for extra taste. You can also sprinkle grated cheese or crushed peanuts for variation. Try adding sour curd to the batter for a light, tangy flavour and fluffier texture.
