Aloo Sooji Bites

Suji Potato Bites Recipe | Aloo Sooji Bites | Instant Suji Nashta with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Potato and semolina are sources of many simple and innovative snack recipes across India. It is most commonly fried or steamed to make a tasty or healthy meal with a choice of spicy condiments to make it a complete meal. However, these 2 hero ingredients can be combined together to make a super food which is also known as suji potato bites or instant suji nashta dhokla recipe.

As I was explaining earlier, this recipe is very much inspired by the dhokla recipe. It carries the same texture and softness, yet is different in its own way. Particularly the addition of potato puree to the rava batter makes it unique and very interesting. Basically, it would be crisper and creamier when compared to the traditional rava dhokla. In addition, adding potato puree makes it a completely filling snack as compared to just rava based snack. I personally like this combination, as it has the goodness of both ingredients and is thus an ideal candidate for the morning breakfast meal. You may serve it as it is as it carries all the spices and herbs in it. But you may serve it with any type of chutney, sauces, or even pickle.

Suji Potato Bites Recipe Furthermore, some more related and additional tips, suggestions, and variants to the suji potato bites recipe. Firstly, I have used the roasted medium rava or semolina for this recipe which gives an ideal texture and flavor to this snack. However, you may also try this snack with fine rava too but you may not get the same texture. Secondly, in addition to potatoes, you can also add other vegetable purees to make it more interesting and exciting. You may add vegetables like carrots, beans, broccoli, and cauliflower on top of potatoes. Lastly, I have steamed these bites in a large steel container and shaped them like square bites. However, you may also use an idli cooker to shape it like an idli and serve it for the breakfast.
