chilli paneer recipe | paneer chilli dry | how to make chilli paneer with detailed photo and video recipe. a popular cottage cheese based starter or appetizer recipe from the favoured indo chinese cuisine. basically the recipe is derived from the well known chilli chicken or chicken chilli for the non meat or vegetarian lovers. it comes with 2 variations, including dry and gravy version depending upon the way it is served.

there are many ways the chilli paneer recipe, which includes the gravy, dry or semi gravy recipe. but in this recipe i have shown a dry version with minimal gravy, ideal for party starters or appetiser. but even in this dry variation, i have shown 2 ways to prepare it. i.e one with chings masala and the other one from scratch. both recipes tastes good and it completely depending upon your preference. but the chings recipe is less hassle and merely takes 10 mins to prepare. hence ideal for those who need something very quick or in no time. my personal choice is to make it from scratch so that i can control the taste as per my choice. also i have the opportunity to extend the recipe with the choice of vegetables depending upon the mood.

furthermore, some easy tips, suggestions and recommendations for a perfect chilli paneer recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend to use soft and moist paneer for this recipe. i have used homemade paneer, but you can choose fresh and moist paneer from your local store. secondly, the same recipe can be extend with tofu or as a matter of fact you can combine both in one recipe. try to use plain tofu and avoid using flavored and marinated tofu for this recipe. lastly, recipe can also be extended by preparing the paneer pakora, similar to gobi chilli or manchurian recipe. you can refer my previous gobi chilli recipe for the same.

easy chilli paneer recipe | paneer chilli dry | how to make chilli paneer

Ingredients (1 cup = 250 ML)
frying paneer:
  • 10  pieces  paneer/cottage cheese cube
  • tsp  corn flour
  • ¼  tsp  black pepper  crushed
  • salt to taste
  • tbsp  oil for frying
for chilli paneer:
  • inch  ginger finely chopped
  • clove garlic  finely chopped
  • green chilli  slit
  • spring onion chopped
  • ¼  red capsicum  cub
  • ¼  green capsicum  cub
  • ½  onion petals
  • tsp  chilli sauce
  • tbsp  tomato sauce
  • tsp  soy sauce
  • ¾  tsp  sugar
  • salt to taste
  • tsp  corn flour
  • ¼  cup  water
  • ¼  tsp  black pepper  crushed
using chings masala
  • 200 grams paneer / cottage cheese cube
  • 4 tsp oil
  • 1 green chilli slit
  • 2 tbsp spring onion chopped
  • ½ onion petals
  • ½ carrot sliced
  • ½ capsicum julienne
  • 1 pack chings paneer chilli masala
  • 1 cup water
Instructions
  1. firstly, saute ginger-garlic, chilli and spring onion in oil.
  2. add cubed green and red capsicum, along with onions. saute for a minute.
  3. furthermore, add chilli sauce, tomato sauce and soy sauce.
  4. also, add salt and sugar. adding sugar makes chilli paneer slightly sweet and spicy combination.
  5. now add corn flour paste and give a quick stir.
  6. stir till the cornflour paste turn translucent.
  7. add fried paneer, crushed black pepper and mix well.

  8. garnish with spring onions and serve chilli paneer hot as a starter or as a dish for roti, noodles or fried rice.

how to make chilli paneer with step by step photo:

  1. first of all, cube the paneer and coat with corn flour.chilli paneer
  2. also, sprinkle some crushed pepper and salt to taste.chilli paneer dry
  3. coat the paneer with flour well. this helps to absorb water present in paneer and also make paneer crisp.chilli paneer dry
  4. now fry the coated paneer with some oil. you can also deep fry.chilli paneer dry
  5. flip over so that it gets nice golden brown on low-medium flame. drain them on kitchen towel to remove excess oil.chilli paneer dry
  6. to the remaining oil add chopped ginger-garlic, chilli and spring onion white. saute them on high flame for 40 seconds.chilli paneer dry
  7. in addition, add cubed green and red capsicum, along with onions. saute for a minute.chilli paneer dry
  8. furthermore, add chilli sauce, tomato sauce and soy sauce.chilli paneer
  9. also, add salt and sugar. adding sugar makes chilli paneer slightly sweet and spicy combination.chilli paneer
  10. now add corn flour paste and give a quick stir. to prepare cornflour paste, stir 2 tsp of cornstarch with ¼-½ cup water and make a paste out of it.chilli paneer
  11. stir till the cornflour paste turn translucent.chilli paneer
  12. add fried paneer.chilli paneer
  13. also, add crushed black pepper. mix well.chilli paneer
  14. finally, garnish with spring onions and serve chilli paneer hot as a starter or as a dish for roti, noodles or fried rice.chilli paneer

  1. firstly, in a kadai heat 4 tsp oil and saute 1 green chilli and 2 tbsp spring onion. saute well.

  2. further saute ½ onion, ½ carrot and ½ capsicum until they shrink slightly yet crunchy.

  3. additionally, add 200 grams paneer and saute gently without breaking.

  4. now in a large bowl take pack chings paneer chilli masala and dissolve in 1 cup (300ml) water.

  5. pour the masala mix over saute vegetables.

  6. stir continuously and boil for 3 minutes or until mixture thickens and turns glossy.

  7. finally, serve chilli paneer recipe topped with more spring onions.

notes:

  • firstly, add more cornflour slurry to prepare gravy version.
  • alternatively, deep fry paneer to make it tastier. as a result, you may your paneer crispy.
  • furthermore, if your paneer is too soft then freeze it for half an hour and then fry. else they will break.
  • finally, add more chillies if you prefer spicy chilli paneer recipe. while, adding extra chillies may rise spice level, but you may have to be careful while feeding to kids.
