dalgona coffee recipe | dalgona coffee 2 ways | cold and cocoa powder coffee with detailed photo and video recipe. a popular and viral coffee recipe known for its thick creamy toppings. it is a popular beverage from south korea made with equal proportions of sugar, instant coffee powder and hot water. it is traditionally made as a coffee beverage, but due to the coronavirus lockdown it has to lead to many variations and this post includes 2 variations.
as i explained earlier, this recipe originated from south korea, but got viral during this lockdown period. i guess i might be late posting this recipe as it has already been posted and shared by many chef and youtube creators. i was getting a lot of request and queries regarding this recipe and hence i thought of sharing it before its not too late. having said that i find this recipe very similar to the north indian phenti hui coffee or beaten coffee. but there is a significant difference between these 2. in this recipe, the silky-textured whipped mix is added on top of chilled milk. but in the indian version chilled milk is added to the whipped mix in a glass. moreover in this post, apart from the traditional dalgona coffee, i have also shown another variation with cocoa powder which is gaining a lot of popularity these days.
anyway, before wrapping up the post i would like to add some more tips, suggestions and variations to dalgona coffee recipe. firstly, in this recipe post, i have shown the chilled version of dalagona coffee. but this coffee can also be made as a hot beverage with hot milk. my personal favourite is chilled variation and hence posting a chilled variation. secondly, as a variation you can add choice of flavouring agent similar to cocoa powder. you can add horlicks powder, milo powder or even bournvita powder. lastly, the recipe is typically served by mixing the whipped cream with chilled milk. but you may serve as it is with whipped cream toppings and can be consumed with a spoon.

for dalgona coffee mixture:
- ¼ cup instant coffee powder
- ¼ cup sugar
- 3 tbsp water
- 1 tsp cocoa powder, for chocolatey flavour
for serving:
- few ice cubes
- 2 cup milk, chilled

dalgona mixture preparation:
- firstly, in a large bowl take ¼ cup instant coffee powder and ¼ cup sugar.
- also, add 3 tbsp hot water and mix well.
- mix well making sure everything is well combined.
- now using a beater or whisk, beat on low speed.
- make sure to beat in one direction so that air incorporates well.
- continue to beat until the mixture lightens and thickens.
- after 7-8 minutes the mixture turns creamy forming a smooth silky texture.
- finally, dalgona mixture is ready, keep aside.
dalgona coffee preparation:
- in a large glass add few ice cubes.
- pour 1 cup of chilled milk, filling ¾ of the mug.
- drop in 2 tbsp of prepared dalgona mixture slowly.
- spread uniformly so that it covers entire glass.
- finally, dalgona coffee is ready to enjoy.
