i am a huge fan of gobi manchurian recipe and other indo chinese street food recipes. but the plain cabbage manchurian recipe was very new to me. my first encounter with this was during my husband’s office colleagues potluck party. one family had cooked this crispy cabbage manchurian as a starters. honestly, i was skeptical about this recipe till i had my first bite. even my husband could not resist it and we both enjoyed it as a side dish to our veg pulao.

Ingredients (1 cup = 255 ML)
  • 2 cup cabbage finely chopped
  • 1 carrot grated
  • ½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
  • ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup maida / plain flour / refined flour / all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp water
  • oil for deep frying
other ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 clove garlic finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp spring onions chopped
  • ¼ onion finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli slit
  • ½ capsicum cubes
  • 1 tsp chilli sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • ¼ tsp pepper crushed
Instructions
  1. firstly, take 2 cup finely chopped cabbage and 1 grated carrot.
  2. ½ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp ginger garlic paste, ½ tsp salt, ½ cup maida and 2 tbsp corn flour.
  3. combine and prepare a soft dough.
  4. deep fry cabbage balls in hot oil or bake at 200 degree celsius for 20 minutes or till cabbage balls turn crisp and gets cooked well completely from inside.
  5. now in a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil and saute 2 clove garlic.
  6. also saute 2 tbsp spring onions, ¼ onion and 1 green chilli.
  7. additionally, add ½ capsicum and saute well.
  8. further add 1 tsp chilli sauce, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato sauce, ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp pepper.
  9. saute on high flame till the sauce thickens.
  10. now add fried cabbage balls and mix gently.
  11. finally, cabbage manchurian is ready to serve by garnishing with chopped spring onions.

  1. firstly, in a large mixing bowl take 2 cup finely chopped cabbage and 1 grated carrot.

  2. add ½ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp ginger garlic paste, ½ tsp salt, ½ cup maida and 2 tbsp corn flour.

  3. combine by squeezing out cabbage well.

  5. now grease hand with oil and prepare round ball sized balls.

  6. deep fry in hot oil or bake at 200 degree celsius for 20 minutes or till cabbage balls turn crisp and gets cooked well completely from inside.

  7. stir occasionally, keeping the flame on medium.

  8. fry till the cabbage balls turns golden and crisp. drain off the fried cabbage balls over kitchen paper and keep aside.
