whole wheat pizza recipe | wheat pizza base | no oven wholemeal pizza in kadai with step by step photo and video recipe. pizza recipe is such a versatile recipe which is a staple of italy, but has been adopted widely as per local taste buds. in indian cuisine, it has been heavily extended with instant pizza sauce to no oven no yeast wheat pizza. this is one such pizza recipe targeted specifically to indian taste buds with spicy pizza sauce, prepared in kadai and moreover no yeast is used to prepare the dough.

i have posted quite a few pizza recipes but most of them are prepared using either oven or yeast. well, the traditional pizza recipe is prepared with yeast and particularly in a wood-fired oven which would infuse charcoal flavour to the pizza. it would be a wonderful experience to relish a wood-fired pizza, but perhaps not practical to have it at the home. moreover, indian cuisine does not require owning a sophisticated gas or electric oven in our kitchen. hence we assume some recipes are rather not tried at home. trust me it is a myth and i would like to propose an easy alternative to it using a simple kadai. basically, i have used a thick bottom kadai and used low flame, slow cooking to get the same effect as an oven. once you try this recipe, i am 100% sure that you would be a big fan of it. in addition, there is no yeast and maida (plain flour), therefore it is guilt-free too. do try this recipe and serve it to your friends and family to impress them.

furthermore, some additional tips, suggestions and variants to the whole wheat pizza recipe. firstly, i have chosen wheat due to the health benefits, but you are more than welcome to try the same recipe with maida or plain flour too. you do not have to alter any other steps or ingredients and just switch to maida from atta. secondly, the topping is completely open-ended and you may choose any type of combination of toppings as per your choice. in addition if you like meat, you may add any processed meat with a choice of vegetables. lastly, as an alternative to yeast, i have added baking powder which should provide the same effect as yeast. yet yeast is always a better option and hence if you do have access to yeast you should be using it.

for dough:

  • 2 cup wheat flour
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ¼ cup curd
  • water, for kneading

for instant pizza sauce:

  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs

for toppings:

  • onion
  • capsicum
  • tomato
  • jalapeno
  • olives
  • sweet corn
  • cheese

Instructions
 

how to knead the dough for pizza:

  • firstly, in a large mixing bowl take 2 cup wheat flour, ¼ tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder and ½ tsp salt.
  • mix well making sure everything is well combined.
  • now add ¼ cup curd, 2 tbsp olive oil and water.
  • start to knead the dough adding water as required.
  • knead to a smooth and soft dough.
  • grease the dough with oil, cover and rest for 20 minutes.

how to make instant pizza sauce:

  • firstly, in a bowl take ½ cup tomato sauce, ¼ cup chilli sauce, 1 tsp chilli flakes abd 1 tsp mixed herbs.
  • mix well making sure everything is well combined.
  • instant pizza sauce is ready. keep aside.

how to make veg pizza:

  • after the dough has rested for 20 minutes, knead the dough slightly.
  • pinch a ball sized dough and roll uniformly.
  • dust with wheat flour and roll gently.
  • roll to uniform thickness keeping slightly thick.
  • prick the roti using the fork. this prevents the pizza from puffing up.
  • cook the base on a hot pan until it is half cooked.
  • now flip over and spread the pizza sauce over it.
  • also, top with onion, capsicum, tomato, jalapeno, olives and sweet corn.
  • further top with cheese and more vegetables.
  • also, sprinkle chilli flakes and mixed herbs.
  • cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until the base is cooked well.
  • finally, slice the wheat pizza and enjoy.
