Onion Lachha Paratha Recipe Crisp & Soft Paratha | Pyaaz Masaledhar Lachha Paratha with step by step photo and video recipe. lachha or layered paratha recipe has always been one of the popular choices for most of us. it is flaky, layered and also a generous amount of ghee or butter is applied before it is rolled and fried. yet it may require an additional side which can be tricky. but there are other alternatives and Onion Lachha Paratha is one such which comes with masala toppings to negate the side dish requirement.

i have posted several lachha paratha recipe variants, including the masala, achari and even green chutney lachha paratha. but there is something special about this recipe. well technically, it is slightly complicated in terms of preparation and cooking. but perhaps one of the tasty and filling flavoured lachha paratha recipes. it is mainly due to the fact that the recipe involves masaledar onion and it even tastes great when caramelised. i have used basic spices to mix with onions, but you can extend it by adding achari masala or even basic chaat masala. moreover, the onion lachha paratha does not require any additional sides, but i personally prefer a paneer gravy or any gravy based curry. you may keep it simple with raita or spicy pickle but if you do have any leftover curry, you may really enjoy it.

furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the Onion Lachha Paratha Recipe. firstly, i have tried to remain healthy and used only wheat flour in this recipe. yet this recipe can also be prepared with maida or a combination of both. using maida helps to make it more layered or lachhedhar. secondly, it can be tricky and complicated for beginners to use sliced onions and start layering and pleating. you may perhaps use finely chopped onions in the place of sliced onions. lastly, you may even experiment with the recipe or extend it by adding other vegetables like boiled potatoes, gobi, fenugreek leaves and even cheese.

Ingredients
  

for atta dough:

  • cup wheat flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes
  • 2 tsp oil
  • water, for kneading

for onion stuffing:

  • 2 onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp aamchur
  • ¼ tsp ajwain
  • 3 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • firstly, to knead the dough, in a large bowl take 2½ cup wheat flour, ½ tsp salt, 1 tsp chilli flakes and 2 tsp oil. mix well making sure everything is well combined.
  • add water as required and knead the dough.
  • knead to a smooth and soft dough.
  • grease the dough with oil, cover and rest for 10 minutes.
  • meanwhile, to prepare the onion stuffing, in a large bowl take 2 onion.
  • add 1 tsp chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp aamchur, ¼ tsp ajwain and 3 tbsp coriander.
  • also, add ½ tsp salt and mix well making sure everything is well combined.
  • after the dough has rested for 10 minutes, knead it slightly.
  • pinch a large ball sized dough and roll uniformly. roll as thin as possible, dusting wheat flour as required.
  • now top with masaledar onion stuffing and spread uniformly.
  • roll tight making sure the masala is intact.
  • now roll spiral and flatten gently.
  • dust with wheat flour and roll gently.
  • now on a hot tawa place the rolled paratha and cook for a minute.
  • furthermore, when the base is partly cooked, flip the paratha
  • also, spread ½ tsp oil / ghee and cook both sides.
  • crush the paratha slightly before serving.
  • finally, enjoy masaledar onion paratha with raita and pickle
