i have always been a huge fan of potato-based snack recipes. i guess you may have noticed it if you have visited my blog frequently. i have posted a lot of potato-based snacks, chaat recipes and deep-fried snacks, yet this aloo fry chaat is something that cannot be ignored. out of all the potato-based snack recipes, this should be one of the simple yet tasty ones. i frequently prepare the aloo fry for my lunch and dinner as a side dish. this recipe of chaat is just an extension to it. well technically the indo chinese is not a chaat recipe, but still an ideal street food snack. i personally do not prepare the indo chinese more frequently, but still a handy and tasty recipe to have in your panty.

furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the aloo chaat recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend preparing this recipe and serve it immediately. the aloo should be crisp when tossed or stir-fried. the addition of sauce and chatni makes it soggy and hence has to be served immediately. secondly, i have not prepared and added ragda sauce or channa curry on top of aloo chaat. i personally do not recommend it, but if you have some leftover from other chaat recipes, you may add it as per your choice. lastly, with fried aloo, you may also add other deep-fried snacks like samosa, kachori or puris. this would make it an interesting lip-smacking chatpata chaat recipe.

for aloo fry:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 potato / aloo, cubed

for desi style chaat:

  • 2 tbsp green chutney
  • 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp aamchur
  • ¼ tsp chaat masala
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp sev

for chilli aloo recipe:

  • 3 tsp oil
  • 1 chilli, slit
  • 2 clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 tbsp spring onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp capsicum, chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • ¼ tsp pepper powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions
 

how to make crispy aloo fry:

  • firstly, in a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil.
  • add 4 potato and mix well making sure the oil is coated well. make sure to cut the aloo on equal sizes and rinse well.
  • stir occasionally, and fry on medium flame.
  • spread the aloo over the kadai making sure the base is roasted well.
  • once the base turns golden brown, give a stir.
  • fry on medium flame until the aloo turns golden brown and crisp.
  • finally, aloo fry is ready to make chaat.

how to make desi style aloo chaat:

  • firstly, in a large bowl take 2 cup of fried aloo.
  • add 2 tbsp green chutney, 2 tbsp tamarind chutney, ½ tsp chilli powder, ¼ tsp cumin powder, ¼ tsp aamchur, ¼ tsp chaat masala and ¼ tsp salt.
  • also add 1 tbsp coriander, 2 tbsp onion and mix well.
  • finally, enjoy desi style aloo fry recipe as a tea time snack garnished with sev.

how to make chilli aloo recipe:

  • firstly, in a large wok heat 3 tsp oil. add 1 chilli, 2 clove garlic and saute well.
  • add 2 tbsp spring onion, 2 tbsp onion, 2 tbsp capsicum and stir fry on high flame.
  • now add 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tsp vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato sauce, ¼ tsp pepper powder and ¼ tsp salt.
  • stir fry on high flame until all the spices are well combined.
  • further, add fried aloo and mix gently.
  • finally, enjoy chill aloo fry recipe as a tea time snack garnished with sev.
