Cheese Naan Recipe | Tandoori Roti Nan Cheese | Cheesy Naan with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Naan bread or roti recipes are a popular or a must for most of Indian or particularly North Indian Meal. It is typically made with plain or wheat flour and may be topped with herbs for extra flavor. However, the same naan bread can experiment with favorite toppings and one such popular choice is the cheese naan recipe with some chili flakes touch.

There are so many variations to the Indian bread recipes and one such popular is naan bread. It is typically made with plain flour with a fermentation process including yeast or any other chemical leavening agents. However, just the flour can make this bread monotonous and you may require some extra toppings or stuffings. Even with naan bread, there are myriad types of bread but the cheese naan stuffed bread has to be unique. As I was explaining earlier, the combination of cheese and plain flour carries a strong similarity with pide. Yet it would be termed as naan as the whole cooking process including the roasting is done in tandoor. Hence this bread would be termed naan bread and is typically served with different types of spicy gravy.

Firstly, the dough for naan bread is typically made with maida or plain flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. But in this recipe, I have used baking soda as an alternative to yeast. Yeast is still a better option, but may not be easy to access and use it. Secondly, once the dough is prepared, it has to be rested thoroughly so that it puffs out and is easy to roll. Lastly, selecting the ideal cheese is critical for this recipe. I have used pizza blend cheese for this recipe, but you may also use plain mozzarella cheese. Avoid using any other cheese types which may not help in roasting and rolling.

About Cheese Naan on Tawa:

It is basically an extended version of a plain naan bread recipe with a stuffing of pizza blend cheese to make it more filling and interesting. In other words, the traditional naan dough recipe is stuffed with cheese before it is roasted in tandoor or tawa. It can be an ideal replacement for the monotonous plain roti or naan bread with the goodness of cheese in it. Cheese naan is typically prepared in the tandoor oven, but this recipe uses plain cooking tawa and roasts it using upside-down cooking.

Traditionally, naan bread is made with just plain flour and yeast combination, but there are different ways to make this bread. The most common way to make this is by using plain flour and baking soda combination. Baking soda is easily available in any store and more importantly, does not require any additional activating agent. Hence the same combination is used in this Tandoori Roti Nan Cheese and thus making a traditional recipe slightly modern.
