cauliflower sambar recipe | gobi sambar recipe with step by step photo recipe. rasam or sambar is a must dish in every south indian households. there are myriad ways of preparing the sambar and topping with different vegetables. one such sambar is gobi sambar, which is very simple to prepare, yet delivers the same amazing taste. this sambar tastes very good served with hot steamed rice.

in this recipe i have not roasted the masala before grinding, compared to other traditional sambars. even without roasting (paji masala), when grounded with fresh coconut, it tastes amazing. i have prepared this sambar in udupi style . if you feel this masala is bit raw you can even roast with 1 tsp of oil. however, this tastes amazing without roasting. this recipe is very similar to basale koddel.

cauliflower sambar

i was thinking to prepare sambar from gobi as i have already shared aloo gobi curry and gobi manchuria recipe. rice is our staple food and we eat rice for lunch and dinner. hence, it becomes challenging and we run out of ideas when it comes for curries as side dish for rice. gobi sambar is ideal curry, as it can be prepared in a jiffy for those busy mornings. this sambar can be even prepared with just sambar powder. add 1-2 tsp of sambar powder to grated coconut and ground them to smooth paste.

    • Hi Saranya,

Some of the recipes I have posted only with photos. But I am revisiting those and creating videos for it.

  1. Hi! I want to prepare this recipe, But 1 doubt.

U hv mentioned that we can use homemade udupi sambar pwd with grated coconut & grind, So no need to use onion, lasoon & rai while grinding, coz all these ingr are not used in sambar pwd.

    • Hi Jayashree, using udupi sambar is an alternative and quick method. Yes it does not contain any onions and garlic. But it would be simple and quick method as compared to this recipe
