In this recipe, I have used a combination of wheat and besan flour, which gives this recipe an attractive colour and texture. But I wanted to share the ladoo recipe with wheat flour or atta. But maybe next time. I chose the former because it is much better in terms of taste and texture. In addition, it is very similar to other popular Indian ladoo recipes, especially besan or plain flour. Moreover, adding besan helpsย shape theseย atta laddus more quickly as they areย sticky. Hence, I would recommend adding it, but it is not mandatory.
The Atta Ladoo recipe is straightforward, yet there are some tips and suggestions to make it perfect. Firstly, Iย roasted the wheat and besan flour withย ghee so that it was moist and flavoured. However, please do not overdo it and be cautious so it does not change its colour to dark. Secondly, shape these ladoos when warm; it would not be easy to shape them when cold. So if it turns out cold, microwave it for 45 seconds and start shaping. Lastly, the shelf life of these laddus improves significantly if stored in an airtight container. Store these in the refrigerator, as the ghee can start melting, and it may lose its shape.

About Atta Besan Ladoo
It is a simple combination of 2 recipes, i.e. wheat and besan ladoo, combined to make a classic Indian dessert recipe. Traditionally, besan ladoo is prepared during festivals and religious ceremonies. However, it can have health concerns, as chickpea flour can upset your stomach. Hence, to mitigate this problem, a new Laddu recipe is prepared. One is the Atta Ladoo, commonly called the Atta Besan Ladoo recipe. It has the same taste and crunchiness as besan but carries the health benefits of wheat flour.
There are many ways to make a simple and healthy Atta Besan Ladoo recipe. The most common way is to prepare it with a combination of wheat and chickpea flour with a 1:1 ratio. This gets the best of both. However, the ratio can be altered to make a unique sweet recipe. In addition, adding roasted rava or semolina makes it crisp and crunchy. Further, adding assorted dry fruits with dry ingredients makes it a memorable and premium sweet dessert recipe.

Atta Ladoo Recipe | Atta Besan Ladoo - Wheat Laddu
Ingredients
- ยฝ cup ghee
- 2 tbsp gond / edible gum
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1 cup besan
- 2 tbsp rava / suji, fine
- 2 tbsp melon seeds
- ยฝ tsp cardamom powder
- 1 cup sugar
- silver vark, for decoration
Instructions
- Firstly, heat ยฝ cup ghee and fry 2 tbsp gond on low flame.
- Fry till the gond puffs up and turns crystal.
- Drain off the gond and keep aside. Make sure to fry the gond on low flame, or else the gond will not get cooked from inside and will remain sticky while eating.
- Add 1 cup wheat flour, 1 cup besan, and 2 tbsp rava in the same ghee.
- Keep roasting on low flame till the flour is well combined.
- Now addย 1 tbsp ghee, 2 tbsp melon seeds and roast well.
- Roast until the flour turns golden brown and aromatic.
- Also, thee has been released from the flour, indicating the flour has roasted well.
- Transfer to the large plate and cool slightly.
- Add fried gond and crush slightly.
- Also, add ยฝ tsp cardamom powder and mix well. Mix making sure all the ingredients are well combined.
- In a mixer jar takeย 1 cup sugar and grind to a fine powder.
- Once the besan atta mixture has cooled add in powdered sugar and mix well. Make sure to add the sugar powder when the mixture is warm, or the sugar will melt.
- Mix well till the mixture is well combined.
- Prepare the ladoo by shaping them gently.
- Finally, decorate the Atta Besan Ladoo Recipe with vark and chopped cashews.
