Ellu Podi Recipe For Idli & Dosa | Sesame Seed Powder
Ingredients
- 1 cup sesame / til
- ½ cup urad dal
- ½ cup chana dal
- 2 tsp oil
- 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp cumin
- ½ cup dry coconut
- 50 grams dried red chilli
- few curry leaves
- small piece tamarind
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp jaggery
- ½ tsp hing
- 1 tbsp salt
Instructions
- Firstly, dry roast 1 cup sesame on low flame till it turns aromatic.
- Roast till the sesame turns golden brown, and keep aside.
- Add 2 tsp oil, ½ cup urad dal and ½ cup chana dal.
- Roast on low flame till the dal turns golden brown.
- Also add 2 tbsp coriander seeds, 1 tbsp cumin and ½ cup dry coconut.
- Keep frying till the spices turn aromatic and golden brown. Keep aside.
- In a pan take 1 tsp oil, 50 grams dried red chilli, few curry leaves.
- Roast till the chilli puffs up and turns crisp.
- Transfer to the same plate and cool completely.
- Once everything is cooled, transfer into the mixer jar, add a small piece tamarind, ½ tsp turmeric, 2 tsp jaggery, ½ tsp hing and 1 tbsp salt.
- Pulse and grind to a coarse powder.
- Finally, enjoy Ellu Podi Recipe with rice, dosa and idli.
