Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup sesame / til
  • ½ cup urad dal
  • ½ cup chana dal
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 2 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • ½ cup dry coconut
  • 50 grams dried red chilli
  • few curry leaves
  • small piece tamarind
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 2 tsp jaggery
  • ½ tsp hing
  • 1 tbsp salt

Instructions
 

  • Firstly, dry roast 1 cup sesame on low flame till it turns aromatic.
  • Roast till the sesame turns golden brown, and keep aside.
  • Add 2 tsp oil, ½ cup urad dal and ½ cup chana dal.
  • Roast on low flame till the dal turns golden brown.
  • Also add 2 tbsp coriander seeds, 1 tbsp cumin and ½ cup dry coconut.
  • Keep frying till the spices turn aromatic and golden brown. Keep aside.
  • In a pan take 1 tsp oil, 50 grams dried red chilli, few curry leaves.
  • Roast till the chilli puffs up and turns crisp.
  • Transfer to the same plate and cool completely.
  • Once everything is cooled, transfer into the mixer jar, add a small piece tamarind, ½ tsp turmeric, 2 tsp jaggery, ½ tsp hing and 1 tbsp salt.
  • Pulse and grind to a coarse powder.
  • Finally, enjoy Ellu Podi Recipe with rice, dosa and idli.
