onion dosa recipe | instant onion roast dosa | erulli masala dosa with step by step photo and video recipe. instant dosa recipes are one of the popular choices for morning breakfast recipes. these are instant, no fermentation, no soaking and no grounding recipes which are easy and quick to make without compromising on the taste and the crispiness of dosa. one such easy and simple instant dosa recipe is instant onion roast dosa known for its caramelised and crunchy onion taste.
As I was explaining earlier, this recipe is an extension of the rava dosa recipe with the addition of caramelised onion. so basically, in this recipe, I have used almost the same dosa batter, but I have played with onions. instead of adding it to the dosa batter, I have added it directly to the dosa pan. once it gets crunchy, I poured the dosa batter on top of it. this makes the dosa crispier and also introduces the fried onion taste and flavour to the dosa. as matter of fact, you may also refer to this dosa as onion rava masala dosa but a simple onion dosa is most preferred. with this dosa, I have also shared my personal favourite red chutney recipe too. do try this combo and do let me know your thoughts on this recipe.
Furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the onion dosa recipe. firstly, I have used finely chopped red onions for this recipe and it is an ideal choice for this dosa. however, if you do not have access to it, you may also settle with white or shallots too. secondly, for a crisp and thin dosa, the batter consistency is also very important. hence try to keep it watery or thin as much as possible and also roast the dosa in low to medium flame for best results. lastly, if you have some leftover aloo masala or potato masala, you may stuff it inside the dosa and serve it as an onion rava masala dosa recipe.
