Chana Dosa Recipe | Black Chickpeas Dosa | No Urad Dal Dosa with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Dosa recipes are generally prepared using a simple combination of rice and urad dal with some minor addition to it. These do prepare a tasty crepe, but urad dal can be an issue for digestion, gas trouble, and even septic if you had any surgery. Hence no urad dal-based dosa recipes are popular choices and one such hugely popular and tasty dosa recipe is the chana dosa recipe.
I have posted quite a few dosa recipes till now, but this variation of chana dosa has to be my new favorite. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned about this recipe. I was fairly confident about this dosa, but I was super thrilled to see the end result. Apart from the rava dosa or masala dosa, this dosa has to be the crispiest dosa. I even tried this with potato masala to make it a chana masala dosa too and was not disappointed even with that. Typically, we add rava or rice flour or even besan flour to the normal dosa batter to make it crisp. However, in this recipe, just the combination of black chickpeas and rice makes it super crisp and more importantly super tasty. Do try this simple and easy dosa recipe, I am confident that, you would certainly love it.
Furthermore, some additional and important tips, suggestions, and variations to the chana dosa recipe. Firstly, the recipe I have shown here follows the traditional fermentation with soaking, grounding, and leaving overnight for fermentation. However, you may hasten the cooking process by adding baking soda to the batter and start using it immediately. Secondly, I followed the 2:1 ratio of rice to black chickpeas and I was happy with the crispiness. However, you may increase the chana to make it crispier. Lastly, as an additional ingredient, you may add poha or avalakki to make it softer. Perhaps, you can prepare something like set dosa with black chickpeas.
