matar mushroom recipe | mutter mushroom recipe | mushroom mutter masala with detailed photo and video recipe. a creamy and spicy curry or north indian gravy recipe prepared mainly with green peas and mushrooms. the curry gets its flavour and richness from its tomato and onion based sauce tossed in a cashew paste. it is an ideal side dish to roti / chaptai and jeera rice or plain steamed rice.
well there are several north indian or punjabi curries which share the same base of creamy and spicy tomato-onion base. but it usually differs with the main ingredient used it for ex: paneer, aloo and mushrooms which makes it unique and gives it a distinguished name. matar mushroom recipe is one such recipe which actually forks out from the popular matar paneer recipe where paneer is replaced to button mushrooms. i personally feel, mutter mushroom is ideal if you do not wish to have a heavy curry especially with the richness of paneer. moreover, any mushroom curry can be easy alternative to any non vegetarian curry especially if soft and tender button mushrooms are used.
while the recipe is very easy to prepare, yet some tips, recommendations and serving suggestion for matar mushroom recipe. firstly, the recipe can be easily extended with the combination of vegetables including mushroom. you can use combination or either of vegetables like, aloo, gobi, brocolli and even paneer. secondly, i have prepared this recipe in a vegan style without butter and cream. but if you do not have any issue with milk products, than add a tbsp of cream at the end to make it more creamy and rich. lastly, do not restrict this curry just to roti and chapathi as it tastes great with any choice of paratha and kulcha’s.
finally i would like to highlight my other north indian curries or sabzi’s recipes collection with this post of matar mushroom recipe. it includes recipes like, baingan masala, bhindi masala, soya chunks curry, dum aloo, aloo matar, kadai paneer, palak paneer and mix veg kurma recipe. in addition do not forget to check my other recipes collection like,

I made this last night. Wow!
Made it with a mix of cremini and white mushrooms, and it was easily one of the best curries I have ever made. The fenugreek (methi) leaves really set off this dish to perfection. I also used 3/4 tsp cayenne in place of the Kashmiri chili powder – just the right note of hot.
Served it with steamed basmati rice.
Thanks for posting this – I will be busy making more of your dishes as soon as I can!!
