paneer momos recipe | paneer momo | veg paneer momos | paneer ke momos with detailed photo and video recipe. an indian version of nepali momos recipe made with grated and spiced paneer. it is a great party starter or appetiser which can be served just before the meal or can also be served as evening snacks. while it does not require any particular side dish but tastes amazing with spicy momos chutney recipe.
i have posted already the traditional momos recipe made with grated fresh vegetables. basically, i had used veggies like carrots, cabbage, peas, spring onions and red onions. but in this recipe, the indian cottage cheese or paneer takes the precedence with the veggies playing the supporting role. therefore, these paneer momos are generally more filling as compared to traditional ones. in addition to these, paneer momo can also be served as a side dish to most of the indo chinese rice dishes. i personally like it when served with schezwan fried rice and any manchurian sauce gravy.
furthermore, some easy and important tips suggestions and variations for a perfect and soft paneer momos recipe. firstly, in this recipe, i have used plain flour or maida to make momos sheet. but some may find unhealthy to use plain flour. hence you can use wheat flour to have a healthy twist. secondly, use fresh and moist paneer for this recipe. moist paneer can be easily grated and also feels juicy when eaten. lastly, you can either steam it or you fry these momos till crisp. i personally like the steamed one but it is a completely individual preference.

Ingredients
for dough:
- 1½ cup maida / plain flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp oil
- water, for kneading
for stuffing:
- 3 tsp oil
- 3 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
- 1 chilli, finely chopped
- 4 tbsp spring onion, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp capsicum, chopped
- 1 cup paneer / cottage cheese, grated
- 1 tsp pepper, crushed
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions
- firstly, knead the dough again slightly and pinch a small ball sized dough.
- dust with maida and roll thin.
- place a tbsp of prepared paneer stuffing in centre.
- start pleating from one side.
- pleat until you reach ¾ of the circle.
- now seal the pleated part with other part and secure tight.
- heat a steamer and arrange the momos in the tray without touching each other.
- furthermore, steam momos for 12-15 minutes or till shiny sheen appears over it.
- finally, paneer momos recipe is ready to enjoy with momos chutney.
how to make paneer momo with step by step photo:
momos dough preparation:
- firstly, take in a large mixing bowl take 1.5 cup maida and ½ tsp salt.”
- add ½ cup water and knead the dough.
- knead to a smooth and soft dough adding water as required.
- grease a tsp of oil over dough and rest for 20 minutes.
paneer momos stuffing preparation:
- meanwhile, prepare the stuffing by heating 3 tsp oil and saute 3 clove garlic, 1 inch ginger and 1 chilli.
- also, add 2 tbsp spring onion and saute well.
- further, add 1 onion and saute until onions shrink slightly.
- now add 1 cup cabbage and 2 tbsp capsicum.
- saute until cabbage shrink slightly.
- also, add 1 cup paneer, 1 tsp pepper, ½ tsp salt and saute well.
- mix until the paneer and spices are well combined.
- further, add 2 tbsp spring onion and mix well. allow the stuffing to cool completely.
paneer momos shaping:
- firstly, knead the dough again slightly and pinch a small ball sized dough.
- dust with maida and roll thin.
- cut into round shape using a small round cup.
- place a tbsp of prepared paneer stuffing in the centre.
- start pleating from one side.
- pleat until you reach ¾ of the circle.
- now seal the pleated part with other part and secure tight.
- heat a steamer and arrange the momos in the tray without touching each other.
- furthermore, steam momos for 12-15 minutes or till shiny sheen appears over it.
- finally, paneer momos recipe is ready to enjoy with momos chutney.
notes:
- firstly, knead the dough well and rest for at least 20 minutes; else the momos will be chewy.
- also, add vegetables of your choice in momos stuffing.
- additionally, steam the momos just before serving. cooled momos will not taste great.
- finally, paneer momos recipe tastes great when prepared with fresh homemade paneer.
