Chilli Bread Recipe | Spicy & Tasty Bread Snack – Party Starter with detailed photo and video recipe. Basically a spicy and tasty version of the bread upma or manchurian prepared with crisp bread and green chillies. It can be an ideal part starter or served as an appetiser which does not require any additional preparations or deep frying. The sauce prepared for this chilli dish is a generic sauce and hence can be used for any other ingredients like paneer, mushroom, gobi or potatoes.

Sandwich or toast bread was mainly introduced for morning breakfast with basic vegetables or meat additional. However, the usage of bread has significantly extended and it is used in different types of meals including snacks, starters and street food. One such simple and easy party starter snack meal is the chilli bread recipe known for its sweet and spice taste.
I have posted several Indo-Chinese recipes till now, but a combination of bread slices and Indo-Chinese sauce makes it an easy dish. Typically, the hero ingredients like gobi, paneer or potatoes have to be deep fried with special batter so that it turns to be crispy. Deep frying also helps to cook the ingredient and hence it is a must and cannot be skipped. Whereas, when using bread all these steps are not required at all. Having said that, I would strongly recommend toasting this bread till crisp. Otherwise, when the bread slices are sauteed, it may turn soggy soon. Eventually, if rested the bread slices will be soggy but with toast, we get some extra time. Do try this way of bread chilli or bread upma and I am certain that your friends or family would be pleasantly surprised.
Furthermore, some more related and additional tips suggestions and variants to chilli bread recipes. Firstly, for this recipe, I have specifically used toast bread and avoided sandwich bread. Toast bread is generally thicker in size and hence more suitable. However, if you do not have access you are welcome to use sandwich bread slices. Secondly, the chillies used for these recipes is a mild to medium spicy chillies making the recipe moderately spiced recipe. If you wish to make it super spicy or less spicy, you may control it with the choice of chillies. Lastly, as I explained earlier, the bread slices may turn soggy once it is rested. Hence it is always best to serve it immediately so that it does not lose its crispness and shape.

Chilli Bread Recipe | Spicy & Tasty Bread Snack - Party Starter
Ingredients
- 4 slice bread, white or brown
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp oil
- 2 chilli, chopped
- 3 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 inch ginger, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomato, chopped
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- ½ capsicum, chopped
- 1 tsp chilli sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp coriander, chopped
Instructions
- firstly, cut the bread slices into pieces and toast with 1 tbsp butter.
- in a large kadai heat 1 tbsp butter, 2 tsp oil. saute 2 chilli, 3 clove garlic and 1 inch ginger.
- also, saute 1 onion until it softens.
- further, add 2 tomato and saute until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- now add ½ tsp turmeric and 1 tsp chilli powder. saute slightly.
- add ½ capsicum and stir fry keeping the capsicum crunchy.
- furthermore add 1 tsp chilli sauce, 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce and ½ tsp salt.
- cook until the sauces are well combined.
- add in toasted bread, 2 tbsp coriander and mix gently.
- finally, enjoy chilli bread with tomato sauce when it is still hot or pack in the lunch box.

Notes:
- firstly, you can use the toaster to toast the bread instead of roasting it on the pan.
- also, you can add pav bhaji masala along with chilli powder to make it masaledar.
- additionally, mix the bread with masala just before serving to prevent the bread from turning soggy.
