As I was explaining earlier, rice flour is not a popular ingredient when it comes to making sweets or desserts. It is typically used to make recipes like breakfast or snacks. The main reason is the crispiness it has to offer when mixed with water or with hot oil. Yet there are few sweet recipes and Chawal ke Laddu is one such popular recipe. Basically, it is inspired by rice sweet made from rice flour and jaggery. Just that, jaggery is replaced with powdered sugar and shaped like ladoo. In short, it is not a new recipe altogether. Lastly, rice flour is known for its tempering. Thus, you may need to shape it quickly when it is still warm. If not you may have to reheat or microwave it so that it can be shaped easily.

Rice Laddu Recipe | Chawal Ke Laddu
Ingredients
- 1½ cup rice flour, fine
- ½ cup cream / malai
- ¾ cup coconut, desciatted
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cashew, chopped
- 2 tbsp almonds, chopped
- 2 tbsp black sesame
Instructions
- firstly, in a pan take 1½ cup rice flour and dry roast on low flame.
- roast until the rice flour turns aromatic. make sure not to brown the rice flour.
- add ½ cup cream and continue to cook until the flour turns moist.
- further add ¾ cup coconut and mix well.
- now add ¾ cup sugar and mix until the sugar starts to melt.
- do not over cook after adding the sugar, as the ladoo will turn hard.
- press the flour tightly so that the flour remains moist.
- cover and rest for 5 minutes, so that everything turns moist.
- meanwhile, in a pan take 2 tbsp cashew, 2 tbsp almonds and 2 tbsp black sesame.
- roast until the nuts turn crunchy.
- add the nuts to ladoo flour mixture.
- mix well making sure everything is well combined. if you feel the mixture is dry, you can add ghee or sprinkle warm milk.
- now prepare the ladoo by pressing tightly.
- finally, enjoy Rice Flour Ladoo for a week when stored in an airtight container.
