7 cup burfi recipe | seven cup sweet recipe | 7 cup cake recipe with detailed photo and video recipe. a simple and easy indian sweet fudge recipe or burfi recipe prepared with 7 cups of different ingredients. it is typically prepared during indian festivals like diwali and ganesh chaturthi recipe or during auspicious occasions.

traditionally, the seven cup sweet recipe is prepared by adding 1 cup besan, 3 cups sugar, 1 cup ghee, 1 cup milk and 1 cup grated coconut. however in this recipe i have modified the quantity to reduce the sugar quantity to 2 cups and added 1 cup each cashew and grated coconut. i personally feel 3 cups sugar would be too much and yield too sweet barfi. however if you prefer to stick to the traditional recipe, you can fall back to 3 cups of sugar. optionally you can also powdered sugar for this 7 cup cake recipe.

7 cup burfi recipewhile it is an extremely simple and easy 7 cup burfi recipe, yet i would like to share some tips and recommendations. firstly, i have roasted the besan to get a nice texture and flavour for barfi recipe. however you can skip roasting part. secondly, if you have sweet tooth, you can increase the sugar to 3 cups and reduce the coconut and cashew powder to half cup each. lastly, and more importantly, the mixture must me stirred continuously on low flame. transfer them to a flat bowl when it starts to form lump and separates from pan.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup besan / gram flour / kadle hittu
  • ½ cup coconut, fresh grated
  • ½ cup cashew powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup ghee
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
Instructions ( 1 cup =255 ml)
  1. firstly, dry roast ½ cup besan on low flame till it turns aromatic.
  2. further add ½ cup coconut, ½ cup cashew powder, 1 cup sugar, ½ cup milk and ½ cup ghee.
  3. keeping the flame on low, combine all the ingredients well.
  4. break the lumps to get smooth texture of burfi.
  5. stir continuously till the mixture thickens.
  6. mixture thickens and starts to separates from pan.
  7. also the mixture forms a lump.
  8. furthermore, add in cardamom powder and mix well.
  9. transfer the mixture onto the greased tray lined with baking paper.
  10. set a block of desired thickness. tap and level the dough.
  11. allow the dough to rest for 10 minutes, or till it cools slightly.
  12. now when the dough is still slightly warm, cut into pieces.
  13. finally, serve 7 cups burfi once cooled completely or store in airtight container and consume for a week.

notes:

  • firstly, cut the burfi when they are slightly warm, after cooled with turn slightly hard.
  • also traditional 7 cup burfi calls for 3 proportion of sugar. however, i have reduced to 2 proportion and added a portion of cashew powder.
  • additionally, adding cardamom powder is optional.
  • finally, keep the flame on low and keep stirring continuously while preparing 7 cups burfi.
