are you a big fan of bisibelebath served at mtr ?? then you must be happy to see the recipe. i have shared how to prepare bisi bele bath powder and karnataka style bisi bele bath recipe. the recipe yields the same rich flavour as served in mtr. just follow the proportion of spices to prepare a perfect bisibelebath powder. you can alter the spice level according to your spice level. usually bisibelebath is served mild and with dollop of ghee and mixture. prepare the masala in large quantity and store in a airtight container. it stays fresh months together.

Ingredients
- 4 tsp coriander seeds
- 4 tsp chana dal
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 tsp urad dal
- 10 to 12 byadagi or bedgi red chilies, less hot dry red chilies
- 1 tsp cumin seeds / jeera
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 3 green cardamom
- 1½ inch cinnamon / dalchini
- 3 to 4 cloves / lavang
- 2 tsp poppy seeds / khus khus
- ¼ tsp fenugreek seeds / methi
- 12 to 14 curry leaves / kadi patta
- 1 tsp asafoetida / hing
- 3 tsp of dried coconut / desiccated coconut
Instructions
- keep all the spices ready
- firstly, dry roast the coriander, cumin and fenugreek, channa dal, urad dal until they start turning fragrant.
- to the same dry roast sesame seeds, poppy seeds along with curry leaves till they become crisp. remove and keep aside.
- in the same pan, dry roast the cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, cardamom till they become aromatic. keep aside.
- now dry roast the dry red chilies till they become crisp. keep aside.
- lastly, roast the desiccated coconut / dry coconut till they become golden.
- allow the roasted spices to cool.
- grind to a fine powder adding little asafoetida.
- store the bisi bele bath powder jar and prepare bisi bele bath when wished.

- firstly, store bisi bele bath masala in airtight container to increase the shelf life.
- furthermore, do not burn the spices while roasting, as it gives bitter taste.
- also adjust the quantity of red chillis based on your spice level.
- finally, bisi bele bath masala taste great when prepared fresh.

The main ingredient is nutmeg powder which is used by MTR, which is not mentioned in your recipe. May be we can skip as it is the secret of MTR. But first time I am hearing about adding sea same seeds and cardamom in Bisibelabath. Most of the recipes in the net doesn’t mention about seasame seeds” can you please clarify.
