well most of us already know how to make a simple dahi based punjabi lassi recipe, if only we have a thick curd available. moreover, things can get a little complicated if we start adding more flavours to the simple yoghurt drink. in addition, we also have confusion on what kind of flavours are ideal for a simple yoghurt drink recipe. keeping all these factors in mind, i am sharing with you this video post on how to make thick yoghurt with additional flavours to this traditional drink. basically, in the yoghurt preparation, i have shown how to make a malai based curd which adds extra creaminess to the drink. in addition, i have also shown some basic variants with easily available flavouring agents at home. you may very well mix and match the toppings as per your taste and preference.

furthermore, i would like to add some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the punjabi lassi – 4 ways recipe. firstly, the choice of curd or dahi or yoghurt is very critical for this recipe and i would heavily recommend using homemade yoghurt for this. you may use store-bought, but do check if it is fresh with a sour taste. secondly, the ideal taste for this recipe is the combination of sweet, sour and a hint of spice in it. hence try to add or choose your flavouring agent accordingly. lastly, avoid preparing this drink in advance and serve it later. it only takes few minutes to prepare and hence prepares it just before serving.

for punjabi lassi:

  • 1 cup curd (thick)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder

for dry fruit lassi:

  • 1 cup curd (thick)
  • 2 tbsp pistachios
  • 2 tbsp almonds
  • 1 anjeer (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp saffron food colour

for rose lassi:

  • 1 cup curd (thick)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp rooh afza

for chocolate lassi:

  • 1 cup curd (thick)
  • 3 tbsp chocolate sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • firstly, in a blender take 1 cup curd. make sure the curd is thick and chilled.
  • add 2 tbsp sugar and ¼ tsp cardamom powder.
  • blend to make sure everything is well combined.
  • finally, pour punjabi lassi in a tall glass and top with malai or cardamom powder.

how to make dry fruit lassi:

  • firstly, in a blender take 1 cup curd. make sure the curd is thick and chilled.
  • add 2 tbsp pistachios, 2 tbsp almonds, 1 anjeer, 2 tbsp sugar and ¼ tsp saffron food colour.
  • blend to make sure everything is well combined.
  • finally, pour dry fruit lassi in a tall glass and top with chopped pistachios.

how to make rose lassi:

  • firstly, in a blender take 1 cup curd. make sure the curd is thick and chilled.
  • add 2 tbsp sugar and 2 tbsp rooh afza. adjust the sugar to your choice as rooh afza also has sugar.
  • blend to make sure everything is well combined.
  • finally, pour rose lassi in a tall glass and top with rose syrup.

  • add 3 tbsp chocolate sauce and 2 tbsp sugar.
  • blend to make sure everything is well combined.
