tomato bath recipe | tomato pulao recipe | tomato rice bath | tomato bhath with step by step photo and video recipe. pulao or bath recipes are very common across south india or particularly in karnataka cuisine. it is generally a multipurpose recipe and is made for both lunch and dinner. one such simple and flavoured bath recipe from kannada cuisine is a tomato bath recipe made with a generous amount of tomatoes.

i have posted a separate recipe post named as tomato rice which is kind of a similar recipe to this. yet there are some subtle differences between these two. basically, in tomato rice, i have used cooked rice and mixed with separately prepared tomato masala. in other words, it is a stir fry recipe which makes it quick and instant. also, i have not added any freshly ground coconut and herbs masala. whereas in tomato bath recipe, i have used the pressure cooker to cook both rice and vegetables, similar to any pulao recipes. also with the addition of coconut, coriander and pudina leaves, the taste and flavour of the rice is impeccable.

anyway, before wrapping up some more tips, suggestions and variations to tomato pulao recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend using simple sona masuri rice for this tomato bhath. do not attempt this recipe with basmati rice. we are using the pressure cooker and basmati rice does not make any sense. secondly, the tomatoes have to be juicy and ripe. avoid using sour taste tomatoes as it may spoil the taste. ideal tomatoes for any indian cooking are roma tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes or cherry tomatoes. lastly, the taste of this pulao improves when rested. hence you may prepare this early morning and serve it for lunch box or noon lunch. also, you serve it with simple boondi raita to enhance the taste.
