Instant South Indian Pancake

Instant South Indian Pancake with step-by-step photo and video recipe. South Indian cuisine is known for its healthy and tasty breakfast recipes. The majority of them mainly circle rice and urad dal-based breakfast recipes. Yet it can also be done with locally available fruits and banana dosa is one such similar fruit-based breakfast recipe.

Well, the banana pancake is a popular breakfast meal in Western cuisine. It is fairly new to Indian cuisine. However, there are very similar recipes, particularly in South Indian cuisine. The closest one is Banana Dosa prepared with ripe banana and semolina dosa batter. Typically the pancake is made with plain flour and served with maple or chocolate sauce. Whereas, in the South Indian version, it is served with a spicy chutney or any spicy curry. In short, Instant Banana Dosa can be an ideal instant dosa as an alternative to traditional dosa, particularly attracting kids with its flavor. Do try this dosa and I am certain that it would be appreciated by entire family members.

Furthermore, some more related and additional tips, suggestions, and variations to the banana dosa recipe. Firstly, the combination of rava/semolina with banana is ideal for the South Indian variation. However, it can also be made with plain flour/maida or with wheat flour/atta. Secondly, adding yogurt makes the dosa soft and spongy similar to set dosa. However, if you are allergic or do not like curd or yogurt, you can ignore it. Lastly, the recipe does not undergo fermentation and hence requires baking soda for the soft and spongy texture. However, you can skip it and let it ferment overnight before using it.
