chocolate barfi recipe | chocolate burfi | chocolate mawa barfi with detailed photo and video recipe. an easy and simple khoya based classical dessert recipe made with mawa and cocoa powder. it is an ideal unconventional barfi recipe which can be made for any auspicious occasions or celebration feast. in this recipe, i have made 2 layers of mawa one with chocolate flavour and one without any flavour to make it more attractive, but can also be made with just cocoa powder.
i have posted quite a few barfi recipes, but most of them are conventional barfi recipes with milk or besan. i always wanted to post something unique in barfi sweets and chocolate or cocoa powder is one such ingredient i have not used it till now. initially, my plan was to make pure chocolate barfi but then i thought to make it something interesting. so i thought of making layered barfi sweet with plain mawa in one side and the chocolate flavoured mawa on the other side. basically, a combination of black and white textured sweet which should attract all age groups. as matter of fact, you can also make the barfi without layers with just chocolate flavour, but i would heavily recommend making this combination as it offers both the flavours of sweetness and bitterness in each bite.
furthermore, some more additional tips, suggestions and variants to the chocolate barfi recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend using the high quality of mawa or khoya for this recipe. you can either prepare it, at home or you can buy it from your local grocery store. in addition, you can also prepare the instant version by using milk powder. you can refer my kala jamun recipe for the same. secondly, if you need a moist or more creamy barfi recipe, add 2-3 tbsp of ghee to the chocolate mixture. especially when cocoa powder is added to the mawa, it can be denser and ghee should help to make it soft. lastly, store these in the refrigerator for longer shelf life in an airtight container. this is because of the mawa used in it and can spoil in room temperature.
finally, i request you to check my other related indian sweet recipes collection with this post of chocolate burfi recipe. it mainly includes my other related variants like, mini rasgulla, coconut peda, besan milk cake, kaju katli, milk barfi, milk powder burfi, banana malpua, boondi sweet, pineapple kesari bath, karanji. further to these i would also like to mention my other recipe categories like,
