soya chilli recipe | soyabean chilly | chilli soya chunks | chilli soya with detailed photo and video recipe. a popular and a nutrient protein packed indo chinese starter recipe, made with soya been nuggets. it is simple and easy to prepare and it can be made within minutes as compared to other indo chinese street food recipes. generally, the dry variants of soyabean chilli is popular, but can also be made with gravy too.
this recipe for soya chilli is very similar to my previous chilli recipes but i felt much easier to prepare compared to its successors. however, the soya nuggets need to be boiled separately before coating deep frying them in oil. this helps to get rid of excessive protein and soften soya. moreover, due to the texture and shape of soya, it does not turn out soggy even after keeping it for a while. hence it makes an ideal party starter or an appetizer for potluck parties as it can remain crisp for a longer time. i personally like the chewiness the soya nuggets has to offer. in other words, the combination of sweetness, spiciness and the chewiness, makes an ideal snack for any occasions.
furthermore, some tips, suggestions and recommendations for soya chilli recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend to the clean and boil the soya nuggets thoroughly before using it in this recipe. some brand do mention to skip this, but i would recommend following this step anyway. secondly, i have deep fried the coated soya nuggets which can be easily pan-fried or shallow fried or baked for less oil consumption. you may have to stir the soya nuggets continuously while pan frying, otherwise it may stick to the bottom. lastly, i have added 1 tsp of chilli sauce for this recipe, but you can vary it as per your taste.

Ingredients
for soya preparation:
- 4 cup water
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup soya chunks
- 1 tbsp curd / yogurt, thick
- ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
- ¼ tsp pepper, crushed
- ½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
- ¼ cup corn flour
- oil for frying
other ingredients:
- 4 tsp oil
- 3 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 green chilli, slit
- 4 tbsp spring onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp onion, chopped
- 10 cubes capsicum
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp chilli sauce
- ¼ tsp pepper, crushed
- ¼ tsp salt
for corn flour slurry:
- 1 tsp corn flour
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- firstly, in a large kadai heat 4 tsp oil and saute 3 clove garlic and 1 green chilli on high flame.
- also, saute 2 tbsp onion and 2 tbsp spring onion on high flame.
- further, add 10 cubes capsicum and continue to saute till they slightly change colour.
- additionally, add 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 1 tsp chilli sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce, ¼ tsp pepper and ¼ tsp salt.
- mix well and saute for a minute.
- add cornflour slurry and mix until the gravy slightly thickens and turns glossy.
- additionally, add fried soya chunks and mix well.
- finally, transfer soya chilli to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped spring onions green. serve with fried rice.
how to make soyabean chilly with step by step photo:
- firstly, in a large saucepan get 4 cup water with ½ tsp of salt to a boil.
- now add 1 cup soya chunks.
- boil for 10 minutes or until soya turns soft.
- drain off the water and rinse with cold water. cool completely.
- now in a large bowl take 1 tbsp curd, ½ tsp ginger garlic paste, ¼ tsp pepper, ½ tsp chilli powder.
- mix well and prepare a smooth marination paste.
- squeeze out water from cooked soya and add to the marination paste.
- mix well coating the marination well.
- further, add ¼ cup corn flour and give a good mix.
- coat the corn flour uniformly, add more cornflour if required.
- now deep fry the soya chunks in hot oil or bake in preheated oven at 180-degree celcius for 25 minutes.
- stir occasionally and fry on medium flame to golden and crisp.
- drain off the fried soya chunks onto a kitchen towel to absorb excess oil. keep aside.
soya chilli recipe:
- firstly, in a large kadai heat 4 tsp oil and saute 3 clove garlic and 1 green chilli on high flame.
- also, saute 2 tbsp onion and 2 tbsp spring onion on high flame.
- further, add 10 cubes capsicum and continue to saute till they slightly change colour.
- additionally, add 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 1 tsp chilli sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce, ¼ tsp pepper and ¼ tsp salt.
- mix well and saute for a minute.
- add cornflour slurry. to prepare corn flour water mix 1 tsp of corn flour with ¼ cup of water.
- give a good mix until the gravy slightly thickens and turns glossy.
- additionally, add fried soya chunks.
- mix gently making sure the sauce has coated well uniformly.
- finally, transfer soya chilli to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped spring onions green. serve with fried rice.
notes:
- firstly, marinate soya chunks for 30 minutes to absorb flavours.
- also, add red food colour to the batter to prepare bright red colour.
- additionally, adjust the consistency of gravy by increasing the cornflour water.
- finally, soya chilli recipe tastes great when served hot and crispy.
